With TA cuts, its impossible to implement it with fidelity. and the F&P program is so lacking. Problem: I spent 2-3 days on one book/ lesson in F&P and you cannot really do the phonics lesson more than once without changing it up (which is only really a 10 minute lesson). I have found that many students are in different stages on their phonics/ decoding/ fluency skills, so Fundations doesn't always help them. F&P doesn't have much to it and isn't deep enough. Fundations gets really boring to students about half way through the year. I feel like I have started to add sight words to my phonics instruction, but the problem is we aren't really supposed to be teaching the kids to sound out sight words, however, I have started adding it to my phonics portion because it is important. I need activities that change up the current instruction, but also support sight words. I like the lessons in F&P better because I feel like its less "scripted" but at the same time there is so much lacking from it.
