The continuity in Spanish colonial labor was a constant of forced slave labor of non-Spanish peoples. The intensity of the labor, from gold mining to sugar plantations was constantly demanding.

The change of Spanish colonial labor varied in the enslaved peoples, from the Native Americans to imported African slaves. The products of the labor varied, from gold, silver, and precious metals, to sugar and tobacco and other cash crops. The treatment of the slaves went from varied tactics of attempting to convert the natives to Catholicism, to the destruction and mistreatment of the African slaves and their culture and family.

Economic factors that contributed to the continuity and change in Spanish colonial labor from the 15th to the 16th centuries were the lack of gold in Americas. Political factors involve the encomienderos, who weren't political men, but more obsessed with money and resulted in violence with their enslaved Native Americans. Politics back in Spain were laws restricting the encomienda system and the rights of the Natives. Social changes were the death of Native Americans from disease and abuse, and their escapes from slavery because of their knowledge of the lands.

The economic factors that contributed to continuity in spanish colonial days was that they were still looking for gold and silver. Also, they wanted labor cheapnto do all the work that needed to be done on the plantations every day. The changes were that they went from enslaving natives to African slaves because they wanted a cheaper labor force and it was easier to hold and capture the African slaves than the Native Americans

The economic factors that stayed the same in the colonial spanish empire was that they wanted to find gold and other precious metals and required slave labor to do so. The things that changed were the way in which they got slaves and the way they paid for different types of slaves, including natives and africans.

From 1500-1600 the encomienda system was used to prosper in the new world, but the persecution of natives led many to question this morally. Eventually people such as de las cases demanded change, knowing morally this was wrong, so the Spanish political rulers made the new laws which helped led to the fall of the encomienda system as a whole. This was because of the quest for gold. the mass death of natives also caused the encomienda system to fail which led to slavery
