The visit to the museum and before the talk in the café with some of the group is making me very pensive... thinking about german history and how I can bring discussions to the other teachers of my school to work on our remembering culture with the pupils.
The last two rooms from the museum have taken me into the presence - on the one hand to think about the slavery of today even when slavery officially is abolished all over the world. But this abolition exists only on paper. Forms of modern slavery include political imprisonment, child labor, forced prostitution, the recruitment of child soldiers, and the classic forms of serfdom and economic exploitation. (Slavery researcher Kevin Bales estimates that today at least 27 million people live in conditions that resemble slavery!!!)- on the other hand to feel the open minded spirit of the Guadeloupeen (arts in the last room).

My quote of the day is: " The problem is not a problem when there is a solution."

The culture of the people is something that has a smell, a flavor, a sound ... However when we look for the origin of the same we discover that there is not one but a diversity of bases that time, people and circumstances shaped into the actual existence .
The analysis of history is important to understand the mistakes that have been made but we should not distance ourselves from this reality as something past. nfortunately at the present the same mistakes are made , simply they are not yet in a museum.

Culture is our present, that incorporates our past, it includes all sort of events, traditions, materials, foods... Memorial ACTe remembers a period that we would like to ignore. But as teachers we must know and pass on, because kwnolwdge is the tool that empowers people. Mostly, history is firstly told by the winner or the stronger, and often these "first impressions" are believe. the history of the loser and the weaker takes a long time to be known, se have to listen and be critical of what is said.

The ACTE museum tried to explain history of the carribean from another perspective. Me as a visitor felt shocked, guilty, ugly and sad how corrupt, brutal, emotionless humanity can be. Within one hour you get to know history of the slavery, colonialism, piracy, and religious justifications for the wealth and power of western countries. French revolution and the enlightenment was the start to end it, but equality between white and black like M.L.King, Marvin Gaye or Bob Marley demanded it , is still far away. Revolution, revolting, and fighting seems to be only solution to act against suppression and inequality.

Unfortunately, today I had to stay in bed for another day with fever. It is much more pleasant to be sick in the cold.
Tanya brought me various fruits (with lots of vitamins!) and told me about the day. Culture is something very complex. I think that the museum met this topic very well. I did a little research on the museum, it even won a prize.

I think that language is a very important part of the culture. On one hand, there's the dialect as a symbol of the regional heritage, such as the Creole language, on the other hand, a common "high" language is also needed to express yourself and interact with people from other regions of your country. In our culture, for example, we can use language e.g. to express ourselves with poems, texts or music.
