Mr Tan teaches Mathematics to a Primary 4 class. The school's Math department has developed an extensive set of resources for each topic, including worksheets, manipulatives, online games, and problem-solving activities. These resources are intended to provide teachers with a variety of tools to support different learning styles and abilities. Despite his 10 years of teaching experience, Mr. Tan feels overwhelmed by the pressure to complete all activities in the Teaching and Learning Guide. As a result, Mr. Tan finds himself rushing through concepts, often resorting to demonstrating solutions on the board rather than allowing students time to explore and discover mathematical ideas independently. (Appoint a scribe to jot down your discussion points by clicking on "+".)

Communication is key. We need to be explicit which are the activities that must be completed (eg: manipulatives). For the remaining resources, we provide flexibility to teachers to use them to best fit the class learning needs (eg: online games for SDL, selected problem solving activities for LPL).

During level meetings, teachers can share the use of manipulatives to enrich discussions.

To have level discussions about the resources available - which are the ones that are the baseline to be completed and which are the additional ones that are optional / enrichment.

The curriculum leaders to check in with level teachers on how they are coping. May consider assigning buddies - more experienced teachers with newer teachers to the level.

May also consider going into Mr Tan's classroom to observe how he manages the class and give him some suggestions /support on how he can do things differently.
