I think that marijuana doesn't really need to be illegal. However, I don't think people really understand the consequences of marijuana if it is used irresponsibly. If people overuse weed, then there will be an increase in deaths in America, and America's IQ will also begin to lower. It is also very easy to become addicted to marijuana, so there will be a very significant increase in marijuana addicts in America as well. Overall, marijuana doesn't really need to be illegal, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't abstain from using it. It could cause severe damage to our countries society overall.

I think marijuana shouldn't be legal. It is harmful over time, and it leads to accidents. People think it's safe to drive with it in their systems, and they are wrong. They are putting themselves in danger, along with everyone else. This is a drug that used to be illegal, but it is legal in almost every state now. People are taking it, and doing dangerous things after. Should we really legalize something that harms people?

I think that the legalization of marijuana is good, but only for the purpose of medication. I do not think that it should be abused or used by people who use it for non medical reasons. There is also the problem of young children or teens getting their hands on this marijuana easily thanks to a parent, friend, or neighbor that use the drug medically. Legalizing marijuana could help a state make some money because of the legalization of marijuana in Colorado, the state has become richer from the money they make from selling the drugs. So overall legalizing marijuana could become a good thing but we have to be careful on how people get it, where they keep it, because it could harm more than it helps.

The feelings I have about marijuana are conflicting, but for the most part I believe it should be legal. If we were to legalize marijuana, we should handle it the same way we do alcohol—you have to be 21 or older and have an ID. The only problem is all the marijuana related DUI's, use of weed by minors, and all that. But this behavior is no shocker with alcohol, so again, we should handle that the same way we would alcohol. Research says it is not as harmful as alcohol or tobacco to adults, so why not let them use it?

After reading this article, it is evident that marijuana's effects on the human body are less dangerous than other legal drugs like tobacco or alcohol. Very rarely, if ever, has marijuana use been lethal to a user. It has been known to decrease IQ and increase chance of psychotic illness in adolescents, so an age restriction (21 is the usual age for things like this) would be necessary. Otherwise, there are not very many reasons to keep marijuana illegal. Because of this, I believe that marijuana use should be legal, but highly regulated.

I think that the legalization of marijuana should be more widely accepted. It is much safer than alcohol, and alcohol is legal and is everywhere. It is much harder to overdose on marijuana than it is to kill yourself by drinking too much alcohol. And it is much more common to hear about alcoholism than it is a pot addict. I think it should be regulated better than alcohol is though. The laws in place on how people can get it, how much they can own, and the regulations of plants. If the state regulates and upholds the laws about marijuana I don't see why it is a big problem.

And I mean yes it could help with the medicines and pain killers but some people still get addicted to them and still suffer health problems and mental because of the drug. So I think we have to think about the consequences before we let marijuana be legalized. In my overall opinion I think that legalizing marijuana is bad for our community and for everyone

I would never want to get hooked on it and eventually move up to stronger drugs. The only problem I would have if any of my friends started to smoke it and gained an addiction to the point that it can be fatal. Then I would really be scared of how it can affect my friends or even family. But I never judge people on their lifestyle so as long as they can control themselves, I don't have trouble with weed being legalized.

While the legalization of marijuana has a few downsides, I am not entirely opposed to it. Making the drug legal gives less power to drug cartels, and it provides more jobs. While weed may harm the user and could get into the hands of minors more easily, it still is less harmful than alcohol, which is already legal. Overall, the benefits of marijuana legalization outweigh the risks.

If people get stoned, they should be prohibited from purchasing the weed, so no one has to have the urge to do it. I had an idea of how the situation can be handled, by an invention I came up with called Weed Cards. If someone/authorities catches you stoned out of your mind in public, a corner is chipped off and you need at least one corner on your card to buy weed. Taking it for health or social events is okay, but if you use it primarily for the use of forgetting, then it wouldn't be used at all.

Although it can provide more jobs and revenue, I don't think it is worth the health problems it can cause. This article says how the effects of marijuana is not as worse as other legal drugs, but I question is it because marijuana is safe or is tobacco and alcohol that dangerous? I feel like the government is making money off of the citizens hurting their health. I understand no one is forcing anyone to buy and use marijuana but the fact that they are allowing dangerous drugs to be used is wrong. I do not like the idea of legalizing marijuana. However, if they were to legalize marijuana in more states, I think tracking the growth, distribution, and use of it is essential.

As long as the weed is regulated and made sure that it isn't laced than there shouldn't be a problem with it. I agree that some people can't handle it, like they will drive and they will be all dazed and confused. Weed is a stress reliever (well that's why most people do it) and they just stay at home and should not get in a car. Just stay in a safe place until the effects wear off. The consequences of weed are sometimes bad but it is easily fixed. Weed boosted the economy in Colorado and as well as THC related DUI's. I think that it can help us in the same way.

Although there will be more DUI's and more intoxicated people, I think it would generate more money for the Government because there will many debts for people who become dangerously intoxicated. The bad part about this though is that more people will die as a result from intoxicated drivers. As you can see there are many pros and cons to the legalization of weed, I feel that the pros outweigh the cons and will provide us with a way to give the economy money and teach younger people to not smoke weed and drive as they may see others who will get in trouble for it.

Another problem is that many people don't know how to use the drugs and keep away from overdosing. This can also cause death if not treated right away. The state legislatures need to come up with new laws that can help lower these percentages. Another idea might be to crack down on people who keep buying it and make a set limit to stop them from harming themselves or others. The buyers must think about making decisions that will keep themselves and others safe rather then in a hospital or a jail cell.

Since 60% or even more people agree that it should be legalized I think it's worth a shot.

Well the loss of IQ points and increased risk of psychotic illness seem logical because marijuana does have serious downsides if used by one not completely finished developing. And since teens are using it, I can see why weed is illegal in some although there are good upsides. A solution I propose is for marijuana to be legal past the age of development, moving it from 21 to 23-25 where practically almost all are done developing. Cracking down on possession for those underage will also decrease younger people being caught with it. The good effects of marijuana will finally outweigh the bad with a different set of rules.

Legalizing may lower the crime rate for people with marijuana in possession and people who committed no violent crime don't have to go to jail. Also it seems to be a relaxing alternative then being stressed out all of the time, like a pill you take to just relax and forget everything. But the downside is that there might be more drug DUI's, some people might not be able to handle he sensation and try to drive uncontrollably and freak out. Also in the contrary, it is a good but dangerous business to get into. You can make good money and have your life in danger at the same time. Despite the dangers I feel like it should be legalized.

I believe it should only be used for medical reasoning, and since it isn't a cure to many I things I don't think there should be a significant rise in the distribution of marijuana. Marijuana being illegal guarantees for a better environment because of the effects of marijuana. Most effects are bad such as rise in hospitalization and rise in marijuana-related DUIs. I do not think that the few upsides it has, such as it creating more jobs, is enough for it to say it should be legalized everywhere.

I believe the legalization of marijuana is a good thing. The only bad part about it is the negative effects it is having on some people like getting them DUIs or having kids be hospitalized because they accidentally ate an edible. People should be more responsible and not drive after using marijuana and not let their kids get a hold of it. If these things are stopped, then he legalization can benefit a lot of people. It helps with stress, anxiety, and certain diseases. It is also a lot better for you than other drugs, cigarettes, or alcohol. Cigarettes kill about 480,000 people per year, and yet, they are still legal and available at nearly every gas station and drug store. People are also dying of alcohol poisoning every year. If people are legally able to have 28 grams of weed, that is not enough to cause a death, so as long as there are regulations, I believe the legalization of marijuana is a good thing and will benefit people around the country.

To be quite honest, I could care less if Marijuana is legalized or not. A large amount of people are using it and even a couple states made it legal so why not just go nationwide? The downsides mentioned in the article are all dui related and mostly committed by minors. Say marijuana does become legal, it chould be age restricted to prevent more accident happening like that. In that case, the situation is similar to alcohol- which as much as we tried to have that banned (prohibition) , it didn't work out so well. Technically tobacco and alcohol are more harmful to your body than marijuana is so I don't see the problem with legalizing it.

I think is shouldn't be legalized because if we legalize it we would probably get more people that will overdoes on it or will get sickness when they are taking it and probably will die or would end up on the hospital. The studies that say that there is significant losses of IQs is sad because it's saying the people are losing every day knowledge when they take up or inhale marijuana and could get sick while doing it. The passage that I'll reflect on is "Legal-weed states have experienced a significant jump in marijuana-related DUIs. In Washington state, a record 745 drivers who were pulled over on suspicion of DUI in the first six months after legalization tested positive for THC, the main mind-altering ingredient in marijuana, compared with 1,000 over the entire previous year" if people keep getting pulled over for dui and marijuana is evolved than there will be a possibility that one day someone will die if a driver is high on marijuana. Most likely they should legalize marijuana because it can cause a lot of problems with drivers, the authority, and the neighborhoods where kids play around and they'll probably see people smokingnand they'll think that is a good thing to do.

I think that weed has good parts to it, but also some bad things. Like it said in the article, weed can cause bad car accidents, and it can also put people in the hospital. Weed also has good parts about it, like how it can help people medically who are not healthy. I would be alright with the legalization of marijuana, but I think there should be some kind of limit on it, like how much you can buy. I think there should be an age limit, like sixteen or a little older.

Well, you see... Marijuana, also refered to as cannabis, or weed. Is somethig that has been debated about a lot over the years. Marijuana should be legal. With the technology we have , we can see how much weed it takes for someone to go Ill. Just enforce a law that someone cannot buy that much. Make a wait, make a per week policy. You get this much per week. It says it loses IQ, this obviously differs from teens, to older people. As we kids are still learning, it might not make us lose an IQ points because we are still learning and constantly in school. If you don't go to school. You are not constantly learning. Hence you getting dumber... if you're an adult, you may lose some of the knowledge you've obtained at a young age because you're not being refreshed so often. They didn't really compare old and young people. When it says that the amount of accidents in Washington rose by 48 percent. It's scary, it makes me think that the police over there need to get a move on. If a plant is causing car accidents, then the police aren't doing their job. but hey I don't live in Washington so it's ok.

If there is a medical need for marijuana, then in those cases you should be allowed to have it. Besides all the points I read in this essay, I watched a video of patient with Parkinson's disease and he put a little under his tongue and the shaking in his hands went away within 5 minutes. It can make a change in the medical industry if it would become legalized in all the United States of America. "…scientific studies have connected adolescent	marijuana use to a significant loss of IQ points and an increased risk of psychotic illness.” In some people's case that's not the worst thing that can happen to them. It can make a huge change in people that have Parkinson's disease or any other kind of disease that could help if you were to. It can also make the government a huge amount of money. If it's used illegally now, just imagine how many people would buy it from the government legally
