         <description><![CDATA[<div>read 8/30/17<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;I really like this book because it offers an interesting storyline for children's books. Although it was sad when Sylvester turned into a rock for many seasons, it was a story filled with love and compassion.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Students in grades 2 through 4 would enjoy this picture book, especially if they like to read tales and magic stories.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;I would use this book to teach about emotions, such as love, compassion, and hopelessness.<br>*Winner of Caldecott medal</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>read 8/29/17<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; I have loved this book since my childhood. My mom and I have a special place in our hearts for this book, as we would always say we loved each other to the moon and back just like Big Nutbrown Hare. The artwork is perfect for the mood of this book, as it is sweet and tender.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;This book would be good for early grades K through 2. Kids who love animals and sweet stories would enjoy reading this.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;This book could be used to teach about measurement phrases like "as much as" or "as high as." It could also be used for social concepts, like love and discuss if that can be measured.<br>*Winner of Abby award</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>read 8/29/17<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; This is another book I enjoyed as a child. It's a great series for children to get attached to. This book is great because it focuses on prepositions, while building suspense to the bears seeing the big owl.<br>     This book is aimed for grades 1 through 2. This is great for kids who love animals, suspense, and series books.<br>     This book is a great source of prepositions to teach kids, such as "out of bed," "up spook hill," or "down the tree."</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>read 8/29/17<br>     I love this book because of it's simple, but unique artwork. It was a book I loved as a child and I never hear of it. However, I really enjoy how the ghosts change color and shape with the food they eat at this party, as it brings in some whimsy.<br>     Kids who are in grades 1 through 2 would enjoy this book, especially if they were interested in ghosts/magic and funny books.<br>     I would use this book for teaching colors, as the ghosts change colors each time they eat a new food. It would also be good to show dialogue between characters.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>read 8/30/17<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;I related to this book as a child, so I enjoyed reading it. I worried a lot, and still do, and I think it is a sweet book to read a child who feels the same. I think her stuffed animal, Petals, was a sweet addition as Wemberly would rub her ears when she was worried. It included a great conclusion, as Wemberly met Jewel who was her equivalent.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;I would give this to kids in grades 1 through 3. Children who love reading about relationships and social concepts would enjoy this one.<br>     This is a great book option for the first day of school lesson. It could help ease the nerves of those worriers in the class.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>read 8/30/17<br>     This is a cute, whimsical book that I enjoyed because it was a different idea than most children's book. I appreciated the African folk tale it was inspired by, and I liked how Monkey-Monkey dressed as a zebra to trick the hyena in the end.<br>     This book is appropriate for students in grades 1 through 3. Children who love animals and folk tales will enjoy this one.<br>     I really like this book as an option for teaching a more cultural lesson about folk tales, since this book is based on an African folk tale. It would be great show children a variety of stories and their origins.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>read 8/29/17<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;This is a wonderful, colorful book that offers a fast-paced, rhyming read. I love Dr. Seuss books like this one because of the whimsy and fun that disguises the learning. One of my favorite parts of the book is Mr. Gump and his seven hump Wump. There was so much rhyming on that one page that I had to reread a couple times.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;This is a book aimed for young students in grades K through 1. Kids who love funny, rhyming books will love this one.<br>     This book is a great tool for teaching about numbers and word families. It's also great for kids who can only read the smaller words but want to have longer books.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>read 8/29/17<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; <em>&nbsp;Go, Dog, Go! </em>is a fun book that is easy to read because of its flow and rhythm. I like this book because of it's simple artwork and Dr. Seuss-like concepts. I even liked the little moments when the yellow dog would bluntly tell the other dog that he did not like her hat.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;This book is great for students in grades K through 1. Those who enjoy fun, fast-paced books about simple concepts.<br>     This is a fantastic resource for teaching the very young students concepts on primary colors, positions (up, down), size (big, little) and so on.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>read 8/29/17<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;I really love this book, because I have a huge love for dogs, and my family has rescued many dogs we found stray. I can relate to the feelings of guilt and wondering how Willy is doing. The end was a heartwarming moment when the kids quickly went to rescue him from the dog warden because they just knew he was meant to be theirs.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;This book would be good for readers 1 through 2 grades if they enjoy reading about dogs and relationships.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;This would be great to teach younger students about problem solving, because the two children quickly came up with a solution to save Willy from the dog warden.<br>*Winner of Caldecott medal</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>read 8/29/17<br>     I loved this book because of its whimsy and flow. It reads very smoothly with the transitions. I particularly loved how the story came full circle at the end when the pig wanted pancakes because she was reminded of maple syrup, which started the book.<br>     This book would be good for readers grades K through 2. Kids who love animals and funny stories will really enjoy this one.<br>     This would be a good book for teaching transitions to young writers, such as "if, then" statements.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>read 8/30/17<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;I loved the artwork in this book. It was like 3D photos and different from the ordinary paintings or animation. It was really cute, however it seemed very short and missing details. The ending was a surprise as you think Goliath will be a huge animal and it turns out to be a tiny snail.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;This book would be great for kids K through 2nd who love animals and surprise endings.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;I would use this book to teach about dialogue, as it contained many pages of conversation between Bear and the other animals.&nbsp;<br>*Published in 2017<br><br></div>]]></description>

I especially enjoyed the cute artwork of alpacas and llamas in funky colors and sweaters.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;This is appropriate for children in grades 1 through 2 that love math and animals.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; I would use this book for introductions or practice with math lessons.
