We know he’s a protagonist because he helps Ponyboy, the main character throughout the story. He’s a static character, because he doesn’t change throughout the story. Sodapop is a flat character because we don’t know too much about him.Pony describes him as “He’s always happy - go lucky and everything  and grinning,”(8).
