         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Definition:</strong><br>Direct instruction is a strategy used in the classroom where teachers instruct the students directly and provides them information.<br><br><strong>Pros: </strong><br>Quick and provides feedback to students right away. The teacher can also teach a different method if the students don't react well to the first.<br><br><strong>Cons</strong>:<br>Students won't listen if they are not interested.<br>Sometimes the lesson is hard to differentiate. <br><br><strong>Example:<br></strong>The teacher is talking to the students in front of the classroom and she is providing information to her students. She is giving the students answers.<br><br><strong>Video</strong>: Vocabulary<br>This video focuses on this specific instruction and not any others.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Definition:</strong> Students work collaboratively with other students through group activities or discussions to better comprehend the material. <br><br><strong>Pro:</strong> Students will gain confidence through group collaborations.<br><br><strong>Pro:</strong> It creates positive interpersonal group skills. <br><br><strong>Con:</strong> Not every child is equally involved.<br><br><strong>Con:</strong> Not every child is doing the equal amount of work or learning.<br><br><strong>Video: </strong>A teacher rearranges her classroom to a collaborative learning environment (tables grouped together, group discussions and group activities) and students were interviewed giving their opinions about collaborative learning.<br><br><strong>Example: </strong>In the classroom tables are placed in groups, students are interacting, having discussions and working together within their group.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Definition: </strong>The students are able to experience activity centered learning in order to create an effective learning experience.<br><br><strong>BIG</strong> take away- It is important to incorporate multiple senses to help them better understand a topic.<br><br><strong>Examples:</strong><br>Field trip to national parks, zoo, art museums, and even virtual field trips to places all around the world. <br><br><strong>Pros:</strong> <br>This instruction broadens the learning experience.<br>Students also remember a field trip more than taking notes.<br><br><strong>Con:</strong><br>This requires a lot of preparation and time.<br><br><strong>Video: </strong>The video provides examples of field trips teachers can take their students on and how they are important for student's learning.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Definition:</strong> This is an aspect of instruction where students are able to wrestle with concepts based on their own.<br>Student come to their own conclusion.<br><br><strong>Pro:</strong> They can complete assignments at home if not able to finish in class.<br>Pro: This gets students to think critically &amp; come to own conclusions.<br><br><strong>Con: </strong>Students can easily fall behind because the learn at their own pace <br>Con: They might think what they're learning is correct when it actually is not. <br><br><strong>Video:</strong> They chose a video showing their students exploring a science website where they were able to choose different categories within the science lesson they wanted to investigate more within their lesson.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>
