Strategy 1 - Notice when an author repeats words, phrases, ideas, or images throughout the reading. Why does the author do this again and again?

Strategy 2 – Notice how author’s use short and long sentences 
  1. Short sentences  are often Quick, Powerful, or Tense
  2. Long sentences  are often Slow, Thoughtful, or Calming
  3. Changing sentences - Show a change in mood, thought, feeling, pace, ideas

Strategy 3 - Notice interesting or important word choices the author makes. Think about multiple meanings AND associations we make with that word.
Ex. Home is a place where you live, eat, and sleep 
Ex.2 Home is ALSO a word that we associate with safety, peace, comfort, family

Strategy 4 - Punctuation choice - Notice how an author uses different punctuation, especially in interesting or unexpected ways to create an effect. Why is this piece of punctuation here and what effect does it have on the reader?
