Source H - British News

- The first strike was the Indians killing some the British soldiers and their families (woman and children) after they promised them a safe passage. The British struck back with passion. This led to a full-fledged rebellion from the Indians.
- So, based on this information, it's safe to conclude that the Indians rebelled a little (mutiny) against the British, and them striking back was the little push that caused the Indians to rebel even more (the rebellion).

There were many reasons to why the Sepoy revolution started, according to this source
Regarding Land Owners:
Their Land was taken by the British, and they were not respected. They were also taxed a lot, because of their land.
Regarding Merchants:
Their trade was overrun by the British monopolizing everything, so they were not as needed. They therefore, could not support themselves as much as they wanted to.
Regarding Public Servents:
They had very little pay, respect, and no influence. Their salaries dropped, and they were treated unfairly.
Regaring Monks:
Their religion was made not as important, and they were forced to take part in the "Holy War"

As soon as the Sepoy Rebellion began, the British were super angry. According to the source, they shot every native in sight, drowned 500 out of 600 men of the regiment, and burned villages (Colonel Neil sent out a party to do this). They hung every native that they could catch and they were hung on the trees on the road. There were six whipping posts stood outside of the town alongside of the jail, making around six executions a day. The judge stated they took a trial on his wife and said “if ever I get the change of [judging] these Black rebels I will hang a man for every hair that was in my wife’s head.”.

The cause of the Sepoy Rebellion was their hatred of the White man and everything they have brought, , or controlled in India.

“Sunday, the 10th of May, dawned in peace and happiness.” - The British were the only ones that were happy in India, as the Indians had an immense culture change due to the British ruling over their country. Britain began banning common customs in India such as Sati, and adapting the country into Western standards, which was against the Indians beliefs.

“The nephew of the Afghan Chieftain, Jan Fishan, also came for the same purpose, and was, I regret to say, wounded by a Sepoy.” - The British thought the Indians were savage and scum creatures. Some Brit's did not even want to touch them, which shows how horribly the indians were treated by their new superiors. This could have been a cause of the Sepoy Rebellion because they would want to stand up and revolt against this mistreatment.
