What do you believe is necessary to adapt a book into a movie or play? If you could adapt any text (a poem even) into a play, what would it be and why?

No, not really. I believe that sometimes the movies somewhat ruin the vibe of the book. I read a book called Star Girl that was a beautiful novel, but the movie just really does not give it justice. I know a book that could be adapted into a play is "The False Prince. " (Is that what you meant by text?) I would make that book into a movie because it has an amazing plot and very unique characters. Plus, the movie could use green screen and everything to cause sets to come alive. A play could work as well, but the story wouldn't be as engaging.

I think there are always need to be revisions made to a book's plot in order to condense it to an hour to two hour movie, and I think small details or scenes that don't add also should get edited. When a book is adapted into a play, the setting needs to be especially clear and if it isn't in some part of the book, then something would be made up. If I could adapt any book it would be The Hate U Give because there are so many parts of it that I can easily imagine being transitioned to a stage and a play.

Certain elements can be used in books vs movies. When you read a book and then see the movie, you see there are certain set changes. Movies tend to need more action. If it's set in third person vs a book in first person, you have to cut out the moments of sitting there in thought sometimes.

If I could turn any literature into a play, I would choose a poem. I would love to see a poem be a play. Maybe the one where we see a special person in a normal place. It would be easier to put in play form.

I think you would need some un realistic things but you would have to make it seem as real as possible. I think you would have to make certain situaions more dramatic sometime to give it a story element or drama.Depending on how the characters act in the text. ou would also need the basic things such as characters, titles, props and so on.

I think that to adapt a book to a movie or play, you need a creative director and a clear idea on how to transfer the story. I have absolutely zero idea what text I would adapt to a play because most of the books I read have large settings and probably too much going on for them to be adapted properly. Certain scenes from a book called Blended would probably work because of the dialogue.
