Our Cultural Diversity Staff Network encompasses faith and ethnicity.

The staff network helps support local events to ensure our staff feel supported within the community and celebrate key festivals such as Eid ul Adha, Dilwali etc.

We recognise the impact unconscious bias, privilege and cultural competency can have leading to inequalities for staff from underserved communities across disciplinary and recruitment. We are committed to reducing these inequalities.

A suite of programmes has been designed to provide leadership development to clinical and non clinical professionals.

The three programmes are targeted at professionals at different points in their career:

Leadership 3 - Middle management
Leadership 2 - First line manager
Leadership 1 - Supervisors / Team leaders

What is it?
This programme endeavours to support our band 5 staff to develop as managers. It aims to give them the skills to lead a team, engage with the systems such as Ulysses, develop supervision and assessor skills, understand ward/area level finances and spend a day in a different work environment. A service improvement project also forms part of the programme with potential university credits.

Who is it for?
All Clinical Band 5 staff – nursing, AHP’s. Those staff thinking about a band 6 role. Those staff who missed out on the preceptorship programme. Those staff who want to be a really effective band 5.

What does it involve?
- Attendance 1 day a month at a face to face workshop over a period of 1 year.
- Completion of a change/improvement project within the workplace.
- Post workshop reading/planning/implementation of learning.
- Support from line manager.

Where is it at?
Wigton Learning Space.

How do I apply?
Sponsorship is needed from your line manager along with an application from yourself.

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS FT has a number of opportunities available to its staff for additional training and to continue professional development within the Trust resources, but we also work with external partners to give our staff opportunities to grow.

This is an innovative program giving the opportunity for 24 multi-professional, multi-disciplinary, clinical and administrative/management staff to learn alongside each other. They will gain a common language and shared skills to enable them to better understand, navigate and deliver the increasingly complex services required to provide life-time health care to the population of north Cumbria.

It is a part-time program run over a year with 12 half-day fixed face to face sessions supplemented by self-directed learning and is open to healthcare professionals from any provider or discipline across North Cumbria. We are keen to have as broad a cohort as possible in order to achieve the aim of a greater understanding and perspective of challenges and skills across our area. I have attached the syllabus, dates and simple application form. There is a requirement for line-manager support to ensure that learners are enabled to attend and complete the program

We are open to applications now until June 16^th 2023.
