Fill out this short google form to register for our Summer program and reserve your adoption kit.

We will kick off our Summer Reading Program on June 19th with a Stuffed Animal Adoption Day.

You will receive email updates about bi-weekly take-home kits, programs, and prize raffles.
Some of our prizes this year include robotic pets, gift certificates to local businesses.

We will host programs on Zoom, Facebook Live, and in-person at local outdoor venues. This month we will also be presenting our first Tale on the Trail at Ice Lake Park and a series of programs with author, Lucky Platt.

Priority registration is given to children who are registered in our Summer Reading Program, additional spots will be filled as needed.

Bi-weekly Take-Home Kits Ages 0-5

The goal of this year's program is to prepare children for future success by developing early language skills.

We will support this goal with bi-weekly take-home kits that go along with our Tails and Tales themes of "Pets We Love", "What's in the Woods?", "Underwater Adventures", and "Extraordinary Animals."

These kits will include crafts, STEM activities, book lists, and more!
By signing up for the Summer Reading Program, you have already reserved your bags! Simply come to the library during the following times to pick up your kits.
Pets We Love - Monday, June 21st - Saturday, July 3rd
What's in the Woods? - Tuesday, July 6th - Saturday, July 17th
Underwater Adventures - Monday, July 19th - Saturday, July 31st
Extraordinary Animals - Monday, August 7th - Saturday, August 14th

Bi-weekly Take-Home Kits Ages 6-11

The goal of this year's program is to help children build reading and language skills.

We will support this goal with bi-weekly take-home kits that go along with our Tails and Tales themes of "Pets We Love", "What's in the Woods?", "Underwater Adventures", and "Extraordinary Animals."

These kits will include activities that you can complete on your own, as well as one project that you may complete along with Ms. Chelsea on Zoom. Your bag will contain information about times and links for the Zoom meetings.

By signing up for the Summer Reading Program, you have already reserved your bags!

You may pick up your bags during the following times, but please be aware of the scheduled Zoom sessions and plan to pick up your kit before these dates if your child would like to participate live.

Because this event is planned for children who are not yet old enough to be vaccinated, we ask that everyone over the age of 2 remain masked for the health and safety of everyone in attendance. Families will be assigned their own table under the pavilion to allow for proper social distancing.

Join Lucky Platt, author/illustrator of Imagine a Wolf (Page Street Kids 2021) via Zoom, and be your own wolf! Lucky will read her picture book about a misunderstood wolf, and talk about the materials she used to create the book art, including handmade paints, favorite colored pencils, and scratchboard. Then participants will get to be their own wolves through a coloring activity and creation of wearable wolf ears. For all ages - younger ones may need help with scissors. Behind the Scenes of Imagine a Wolf

Join Lucky Platt, author/illustrator of Imagine a Wolf (Page Street Kids 2021) via Zoom for a peek behind the scenes of creating her first picture book. Author/illustrators often work through many, many storyboard/thumbnails, sketches and drawings before finding the best way to tell their story visually. Lucky will read her book and then show you some of the many drawings that didn't make it into the book. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions about the process of creating a picture book.

Join Lucky Platt, author/illustrator of Imagine a Wolf (Page Street Kids 2021) via Zoom for some virtual time together in the studio. Lucky will read from her book and interact with a set she has built in her studio for Zoom talks. She will introduce Wolf as a creative and generous creature, and demonstrate a very accessible way to create with yarn - finger knitting! Lucky will guide participants through knitting and tying off a wearable bracelet or head band. Supplies available at the library.
