1. Decide in your breakout groups if the Process and Product, respectively, is “Dormant”, “Emergent” or “Flourishing”.

2. Discuss why they fall under the category that your group has decided.

Reason - There is evidence of user perspectives (3!) being used as part of the research process but it is hard to say if technical aspects were researched based on the synopsis alone. It would have been good to include existing solutions and look at the pros and cons before deciding on the product.

Product - Flourishing

Reasons - prototype really addresses the problem statement. Evidence of students using feedback constructively to improve their products. Details in ppt slides are clear and well-elaborated.

Product - 2, Low 2, fits 2 out of 3 criteria but not very original but reusing something in a diff situation

Students have done plenty of relevant research including interviews with the target audience. Evidence of improvements made to prototypes are clear.

Product - Flourishing

Prototype is detailed. Design is simple. Improvements to prototype is significant.

We wonder if the prototype is effective? Some testing is needed.

Simple solutions, some improvements

Research is evident to find dimensions of school desk and adequate research done to understand the user needs. Considered improvement needed to enhance its function by adding a cover and handle.

Product: 2

Product is fairly simplistic. Drawer would be better if the dividers that can accommodate the worksheets (what the product was supposed to target).

Very simple changes made but significant impact, novel.

NO TIME TO DISCUSS

Students considered existing solutions before deciding on their product. Research was conducted on expected end users - demonstrates awareness of target audience.

Product - flourishing

Reason - Product is user friendly and solves the problem.

There is insufficient research done to understand user needs; however, it is evident that they did consider it when creating their prototype. The group did consider the existing solutions.

Simple design yet effective in achieving goal of having a variable size of bag in a single product.
