I thought that any one could "farm" tobacco and that there was not very much labor required. Now, I think that growing tobacco was a lot of work and the people that grew tobacco worked very hard for their profit. I think that if I was a colonist, I would grow tobacco because I could get some money.  I would try to find a way to grow tobacco without slaves. I use to think that it was easy and it was all done at once ( expedited the watering). I did not realized that each leaf had to be look at every day. I did not even know that there were tobacco beetles, I thought that it was all done at once and easy to grow and sell. Well I guess that it always was easy to sell.
