I would give this book 5 stars. The plot was intriguing and kept me interested throughout. It was easy to follow and the author's writing style was unique. There was always a sense of some hidden conflict keeping the reader hooked even when the story was slow.

She got angry because there was no way to save the child without touching him with her bare skin, catapulting through the walls in her fury. This is the first time Juliette used her power freely.

This is the bird Juliette kept dreaming of. When she felt free the bird was flying wherever it wanted. But, when she was "trapped" the bird would fly in place. For example, the bird flew in place while Juliette was in the insane asylum. It flew when she escaped with Adam.

Theme

Some major themes in Shatter Me are change and self-loathing. Throughout the book we see Juliette go from being timid to someone who tries to have a voice. Self-loathing is also a major theme because of Juliette's opinion of herself. We see how much a little appreciation goes for her, since she was shown none growing up.
