I love how your essential questions tie into students' identities in the excellent lesson plan. This lesson plan definitely does a great job of addressing students' identities and thoughts. This will definitely make students feel seen and heard in the classroom, while also maintaining an academic feel since it all ties into the specific novel study. How suitable for 8th grade! Your strategies provide students with a wide variety of ways to think and approach the content within the book. In particular, I enjoyed that you connected the text to a movie for students to further explore the historical events at this time. I wonder how your second hinge activity will further support understanding/learning. Can you elaborate more on that?

I already saw someone put this on this, but I love how you make sure to tie in your essential question for the closure of the lesson plan. It is so important and it ties in so well. I think having the students right in a different perspective for hot seat was a great to add and this pairs well with many historical fiction book. Awesome job!

It was interesting to see your summative assesment on your lesson plan! It’s very important for students to pretend like they’re a character so they can get a sense of what the character went through and to dig deeper into knowing why the character did and etc.

Great lesson it was interesting. I like how you considered students identites and thoughts. I like how you connected your novel to a movie it allows students to see other examples that relate to the novel. I like how you have students creat a short narrative, which its great students will use figurative language when creating it. Also, I like how have students pretend they are a character from the book to give them a sense of how they are, which gives them a deeper understanding and know the character on a deeper level.
