California has an extent (from north to south) of around 1200 kilometers and goes over 11 latitudes. Thats gives California multiple climatezones as the thrid biggest state in the USA. The higgest place in California is ca. 4.4kms high,and the lowest point is 85 meters high. With all this,California has subtropical-, ariade- and continatal-clima.

At the south-coast, they got warm temperatures, with around 18 to 25°C.
At the night,its gets colder with the winds of the pacific ocean.

In the norden part of california, you can see bigger diffrences to the south-coast, as an example, the seasons. You can see that there is a winter and summer. At the warmest part in the summer you've got 22°C.
Even higher in the north you may get 17°C in September.

In the Sierra Nevada, the continatal climate ensures very hot summers and very cold and snow rich winters.

At the southern-part of California, you just see big deserts and in the summer-months there are around 45°C and in the winter-months there are ca. 20°C.
At the 10.07.1913 in Death Valley, the higgest temperatures were recorded with 56,7°C .

Death Valley is a desert in Eastern Carlifornia and it was formed 3 million years ago. Today, here only live about 500 people and only a few animals. The view from the highest mountain is one of the most beautiful views in Death Valley and it is 1524 metres high.

The climate in Death Valley is hot and dry. During summer,its one of the hottest places on Earth.Winters from November to March are mild with some winter storms,but summers are extremly hot and dry. It doesn´t rain often in this national park.

But why is it called Death Valley? Death Valley is named by a group of pioneers. They lost themelves here in the winter 1849-1850. Even though, as far as we know, only one of the group died here, they all assumed that this valley would be their gave.

While the lowst point is in the Death Valley, wich also is a National park. A part small part of it is in Nevada. The desert is is called the Death Valley because of the unbearable temprature and the lack of water that were needed when the first resistens of America moved trough it. The lowest point lies 86 metres under the water level.
