         <title>Can a cookie make music with Makey Makey?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Today we played with the Makey Makey kit. It’s a device that connects to a computer and lets you turn various objects into piano keys or other instruments (like drums or a harp).</p><p>We connected fruits, vegetables, processed cheese, almonds, cookies, and candies. The fruits and vegetables worked great, as did the cheese and almonds. But the cookies and candies didn’t play.</p><p>Why? Because fruits and vegetables contain a lot of water, and it’s the water that conducts electricity and completes the circuit. Cookies and candies are dry, so Makey Makey couldn’t detect a signal.</p><p>Our conclusion: “If it has water – it will play. If it’s dry – it won’t.”</p><p>3c /SP-5/ Słupsk/ POLAND  (D.          <title>How does light affect the germination and growth of bean seeds?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>In this experiment, we studied how light conditions affect the growth of bean plants. We planted bean seeds in two places: one in a bright location (on a windowsill) and the other in a dark place (in a cupboard). For 10 days, we watered the plants daily and observed their growth.</p><p>The results showed that the bean plant in the light grew faster, had green leaves, and looked healthy. The plant kept in the dark was tall, pale, and weaker.</p><p>The experiment confirmed our hypothesis that light has a positive effect on plant growth.          <title>Lava Lamp Experiment</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The lava lamp experiment demonstrates important scientific concepts such as <strong>density</strong>, <strong>solubility</strong>, and <strong>gas reactions</strong>. In this experiment, water and oil are combined in a container. Because oil is less dense and does not mix with water, it floats on top. When a fizzy tablet (like Alka-Seltzer) is added, it reacts with the water to produce <strong>carbon dioxide gas</strong>. The gas forms bubbles that carry colored water droplets through the oil, creating a lava lamp effect. Once the bubbles reach the top and the gas escapes, the water droplets sink back down. This shows how <strong>gases can move liquids</strong>, and how <strong>density differences</strong> affect fluid movement.          <description><![CDATA[<p>After we laminated the balloon, we cut holes and formed the body of the fish. We added a plastic tube above the eyes. We put lights in its mouth, like those used to decorate a Christmas tree. Our fish started to glow.          <title>How do volcanoes work?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Materials needed to create a volcano model:</p><p>Prepare:</p><p>Baking soda</p><p>Vinegar</p><p>Water</p><p>Food colouring (optional, to colour the lava)</p><p>Glass bottle</p><p>1. Prepare the base of the volcano:</p><p>Use a glass bottle as the core of the volcano. The bottle can be placed in the centre of a large plate or tray to collect the spilled lava.</p><p>2. Start the eruption:</p><p>Pour warm water coloured with food colouring and vinegar into the bottle. Quickly add the baking soda.</p><p>3. Watch the eruption:</p><p>The mixture will react, creating foam and “lava” that will begin to flow out of the volcano.          <title>LAVA IN A GLASS</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>You will need:</p><p>– a glass/bottle or jar</p><p>– oil – 3/4 of a glass</p><p>– water – 1/4 of a glass</p><p>– food colouring + syringe</p><p>– effervescent tablet – calcium, magnesium or vitamin C</p><p>Instructions:</p><p>First, pour water (a small amount) into the glass. </p><p>Then add oil so that there is about 2 cm of space at the top of the glass. </p><p>Now it's time for the food colouring – about 10 drops will suffice. </p><p>Finally, drop in the effervescent tablet.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Experiment with Baking Soda, Vinegar, and a Balloon</p><p>In our class, we conducted a <strong>fun experiment with baking soda, vinegar, and a balloon</strong>!&nbsp;</p><p>First, we put <strong>a teaspoon of baking soda into the balloon</strong>, and then <strong>added vinegar</strong>.<br>Soon, we could see how a <strong>chemical reaction produced carbon dioxide (CO₂)</strong>, which <strong>inflated the balloon</strong> and made it grow.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>The experiment showed us how <strong>simple ingredients can create amazing chemical reactions</strong>. It was also a great opportunity for <strong>learning through play</strong>, observing together, and drawing conclusions.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <title>🌋 Experiment: Geothermal Energy – Heat from Inside the Earth</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Procedure:</p><p><strong>1. Earth Model from Clay:</strong><br>Make a ball with colored layers:</p><ul><li><p>red core – the hot center of the Earth,</p></li><li><p>orange mantle – the hot middle layer,</p></li><li><p>yellow crust – the surface,</p></li><li><p>green and blue – continents and oceans.<br>Cut the model in half to show where the heat comes from.</p></li></ul><p><strong>2. Demonstrating Heat Energy:</strong><br>Place the candle on a base and position the pinwheel about 10–15 cm above it.<br>Light the candle and observe – warm air rises and makes the pinwheel spin.<br>This shows how heat can be converted into mechanical energy.</p><p>💡 Conclusion:</p><p>Heat from inside the Earth (geothermal energy) can be used to power turbines and generate electricity – just like the candle’s heat makes the pinwheel move.</p><p>(class II e PS in Gościcino, Poland /Arleta Formela)</p>]]></description>

Mix well. Transfer the mixture into the plastic bag.</p></li><li><p>Put some hair gel and yellow coloring into a bowl. Mix well.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Aby odpowiedzieć na pierwsze pytanie potrzebowaliśmy ukryć w kubeczku niewielką ilość superabsorbentu- hydrożelu, który pochłania wodę. Substancja taka wykorzystywana jest np. w pieluszkach dla dzieci czy opatrunkach. Następnie uczeń, który o tym nie wiedział nalewał do kubeczka wody a pozostali w tym czasie wymawiali magiczne zaklęcie. Później nauczyciel udawał, że wylewa wodę nad uczniem schowanym pod parasolem. WODA w magiczny sposób znikała.</p><p><br/></p><p>Huragan w słoiku powstawał w momencie reakcji spalania tlenu w słoiku- przyspieszaczem był alkohol w perfumach- wówczas świeczka która stała zanurzona w wodzie( udającej ocean), gasła a woda wsysana była do wnętrza słoika, pojawiał się również świst przypominający odgłosy silnego wiatru . </p><p><br/></p><p>Siłę huraganu mogliśmy zobaczyć, gdy nauczyciel podnosił do góry tacę obciążoną szklankami z wodą.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>After learning about the turbine's size and the largest wind farm in Poland, the students decided to measure the blade length and turbine height. To do this, they estimated the length of the school hallway. They then measured the number of times they would need to walk down the hallway to measure the full-length blade of the turbine.</p><p>They created wind turbine models, which proved to be a fantastic way to develop students' creativity, design thinking, and collaboration.</p><p>In class, they calculated that the turbine blade rotates 120 times in one minute.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The students learned about the properties of "small moss." To this end, they conducted a comparative experiment: how does a "green roof" protect people?</p><p>For the experiment, they prepared models of two houses: they covered the roof of one with green moss. Both houses were heated with "artificial sunlight." At the beginning and end of the experiment, they checked and compared the temperature inside the house. The house with the green roof maintained a constant temperature, while the house without the green roof experienced a rise in temperature. The students learned that this solution benefits people and the environment. The system acts as a natural filter – plants absorb carbon dioxide and particulate matter while simultaneously producing oxygen. In the summer, it reduces indoor heat.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Students had the opportunity to delve into the fascinating world of electricity. During the workshop, they learned how an electrical circuit works and tested what's needed to actually light up a lamp. During the lesson, they worked with LEDs, small batteries, wires and clips, and handmade paper spruces, which they transformed into creative projects.</p><p>The photos show the students connecting components to create a closed circuit—and when everything was connected correctly, the LEDs began to glow with an intense red light. This was the best reward for their careful work and precise assembly!</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The winter weather became an inspiration for an engaging experiment in Class 1b. Students took part in the project “Colorful Ice Balls,” which combined learning with creative play and discovery.</p><p>The children prepared the experiment on their own – filling balloons with water, adding dyes, and observing how the colors mixed. The balloons were then placed outside in freezing temperatures, which sparked curiosity and excitement as students waited for the results.</p><p>This project provided an excellent opportunity to explore changes in the states of matter. Through direct experience, students discovered that water turns into ice when exposed to low temperatures. They observed the properties of ice, including its structure and temperature.</p><p>The colorful ice balls also created a great opportunity to talk about colors, light, and changes in nature. Students recorded their observations, made drawings, and compared their predictions with the final results.</p><p>The project supported the development of curiosity, observation skills, cause-and-effect thinking, and fine motor skills. It was a valuable learning experience in which education became an exciting adventure.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>We conducted an experiment whose effect strikingly resembles the phenomenon used in lamps.</p><p>Ingredients:</p><p>a glass/jar/bottle;</p><p>oil;</p><p>water;</p><p>dye;</p><p>carbonated tablet.</p><p>Procedure:</p><p>Fill the glass to ¾ of its volume with oil. In a separate container, mix a small amount of water with dye. Pour the dyed water into the oil, add glitter. Then drop in the carbonated tablet and observe the effect. What will happen in the glass will provide you with unforgettable experiences. The rising drops of dye will start to dance in the container under the influence of the carbonated tablet. We will see real lava.</p>]]></description>

And the effect... the effect is that no matter how many crayons we stuck into it, and we didn't skimp on them, the water still didn't leak out.</p><p>Explanation:</p><p>It's all thanks to the polyethylene from which the bag is made. At the moment when the polyethylene is torn by inserting the crayons, its molecules move closer together and clamp around the crayons.</p>]]></description>
