The Philippine-American War occurred from February 4, 1899 to July 2, 1902. The Philippines-American War was a conflict between both countries, because the Philippines wanted their freedom and independence, but the Unites States would not give it to them because they though the Filipinos were not civilized enough to know how to rule themselves. The Filipinos were led by Emilio Aguinaldo, who had helped the U.S defeat Spain in the Spanish-American War. This war was a reflection of how the Unites States would be viewed and how they would progress as a powerful nation, this was an indication of imperialism, which not everyone in the U.S. was fond of, this created a lot of talk and questioning of how the nation was going to progress.

Executive Order 9066

The Executive Order 9066 was signed by president FranklinD. Roosevelt on February 19, 1942. The Executive Order 9066 authorized the removal of all people of Japanese descendants from the West Coast. This lead to over 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry to be forcefully removed to camps, were they were incarcerated, because they were seen as a threat and dangerous. This was after the bombing of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese military. Because Japan attacked Pearl Harbor many people started to speculate that Japanese Americans would become spies, and this caused Franklin D. Roosevelt to pass this order as well as other acts that discriminated Japanese Americans and Japanese people. It did not matter to the U.S. if anyone was an American citizen or not.

The 19th amendment was passed on June 4, 1919 and ratified on August 18, 1920. The 19th amendment granted the women the right to vote, they could not be denied the right to vote because of their sex. This was a great and pwerful change ond growth for women's rights. This not only granted them more equality in a certain way, but it also led to more outcomes and changes for women, it gave them power to be able to do more. Women got political power and they were striving to gin more power in all sphere, both socially and politically. The 19th amendment showed accomplishment but it was also a sort of new beginning for many women to try to gain more rights and equality. For instance the way a woman would dress, changed because of the 19th amendment and because of the many changes going on through out the country. Woman though the way they dressed could help them gain more power, so they did what they could.

The Tulsa Race riot occurred from May 31, 1921 to June 1, 1921 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The race riot occurred specifically in the Greenwood District. The Tulsa Race Riot was a deadly and massive violent riot that occurred after Dick Rowland, a nineteen year old, black male was accused of raping Sarah Page, a young white woman. The Tulsa Tribune published a story stating Rowland raped Page, and this caused groups of white men to go to the courthouse were Rowland was held at, the groups of men called for a lynching of Rowland. Blacks from the city found out about this and went to go see the situation, they had weapons, and eventually there was conflict between two men that led to a gun to go off, and the beginning of the burning of "Black Wall Street." Hundreds of African Americans were killed, and many more had their homes burned and were left homeless after the riot. This added to stereotypes of African Americans, and how white people viewed them and added to tensions between African Americans and whites in the us. This was also during the red summer which is when there were race riots occurring throughout the United States, after the soldiers came back from the war.
