If someone is accused of a crime, the Constitution states that they must go through due process. This means "notifying a person that he or she is accused of wrongdoing and the government intends to take action against that person and giving the affected person the right to respond to the accusation."

This process allows people to retain their rights when being accused, and makes it so that they have a chance to react and defend themselves before going on trial. While on trial, certain safeguards are put in place to make sure that it is fair. This makes it so the justice system doesn't deprive anyone of their rights.

Presumption of Innocence

The presumptions make it so that the judge and jury have to see the accused as innocent when presented with evidence. This helps protect the defendant because it keeps trials from being unfair and one-sided. The defendant also has rights to a jury and an attorney. Both of these help protect the defendant from biased or corrupt judges, and help them get their case across.

The 4th Amendment makes it so that people are protected from unfair searches and seizures. Law enforcement must have probable cause for a search warrant, and this protects the privacy of citizens. It also means that your property can't be seized for no reason, and puts power in the people's hands. Instead of fearing law enforcement, the 4th Amendment allows both sides to respect the other.
