A.B. Tilbury asks himself “why soldiering was praised up as something to be proud of”.I think he did it because he asks himself why people act as though being a soldier is a good thing. I think that he is saying something like why is killing tons of other people and fighting pressed up to or something that people respect.

Nathaniel Epp, the photographer, watches the Union soldiers flee, and then takes a stroll. He decides that “The Rebels who were coming would be anxious to have their pictures made”. I think that, that was really bad idea. i think this because one what if he got killed or hurt by the crossfire and two he was on the north side so why take pictures of the south and just stand there. Lastly i think it was a bad idea because what would happen if the whole thing turned out to be a really really big battle and he had to run away but he was to busy taking photos.

Carlotta King is brought to the battlefield by her master. She wants to bolt and to go north to freedom. However, Carlotta is told by another slave that runaways found by Yankees are returned to their owners. In my opinion, I think that she did the right thing by running away. I think this because slavery was horrible (as we know) and this might be his one opportunity to escape. For example, if she doesn't take this opportunity then she might not have been free later because her master wouldn't let him leave

the were a lot of people on the battle feel. I think that there were a lot of people because they wanted to see who would win, I also think that there were a lot of people because they wanted to cheer there sie on
