The city comes alive with activity as day gives way to night. I frequently get together with friends to relax and chat, whether it's going out to eat or seeing a movie.

Suhoor is the pre-dawn meal when I eat and hydrate before starting my daily fast. This is how my day starts before dawn. I join other Muslims for the dawn prayer, known as Fajr, at the neighbourhood mosque or in my dorm at the crack of dawn, marking the beginning of the fast.

I fast throughout the day to show devotion and self-control while balancing classes and homework. I also refrain from eating, drinking, and meeting other bodily requirements. Even though it can be difficult to fast while studying, I take comfort in the knowledge that Muslims everywhere are observing Ramadan.

The vibe in Brighton shifts as the day comes to an end. Muslims start getting ready for Iftar, the breaking of the fast, at sundown, and the city comes alive with excitement. Iftar is a joyful and festive time of year when family, friends, and communities gather to share a meal and give thanks for the day's blessings.
