Support means being available to troubleshoot technology within our scope, answer questions in a timely manner, and use clear language when writing emails to response to questions. It also means knowing when to escalate issues, track issues, and make sure the tech we support has as seamless a user experience as possible. It puts the user first and not our own egos or whatever else is going on. I think tech support is really important and I'm proud to be considered a tech support agent on campus.

Support is collaborating with or guiding faculty on purposeful integration and use of technology. This might look like practical instruction, creation of guiding materials, offerings of training, etc., for all things course design, LMS, tools, etc. It means being able to show up synchronously or asynchronously, as well as multimodally.

Support is knowing that our "clients" (friends) know that we are a safety net for them to fall into when they are struggling to find the right approach or tool for a job. Support is being so deeply invested in the understanding of a tool or tools, that you can foresee issues before they happen, warn against behaviors of certain features/settings, and leave someone feeling the confidence of a trained specialist with only a few minutes training and knowledge-sharing and the reassurance we're there to help them when things get difficult or fail.
