I really enjoyed this course and found it very helpful to apply in our clinical setting. At first I felt overwhelmed with all the body systems we had to learn but by practicing I was able to remember more than I thought. I learned I can memorize and retain more knowledge than I thought. I like that we did both finals early in this class, not have finals all in one week. Thank you and happy holidays :)

I enjoyed the Health Assessment course. I believe it was beneficial to have group quizzes so we can learn from one another. Additionally, this course helped me learn how to a proper head to toe assessment on my patients. This is an important class to take in order to know how to do body system assessments as a nurse. As nurses, we always do assessments on our patients. Overall, this was a fun and great learning opportunistic class.

In fact, the absolute first thing my RN did on my 1st day was leave me in a room by myself and told me to do a complete head-to-toe assessment on a patient. I would not have been able to do it if it were not for this class and the teaching you provided! I feel more confident and better prepared for my future career because of the skills I learned in this class.

This course was so much fun and is definitely necessary to take during nursing school because it lays down the foundation of nursing practice. Every day as a nurse you'll have to complete a health assessment to note any changes within the patient's health. I found this class extremely useful. I would have not been able to survive clinicals without it! One thing I really enjoyed about this class is our finals were a little earlier than my other courses. Although I was still extremely overwhelmed, I appreciated getting finals done early! Overall, amazing professor and amazing class :') Happy holidays everyone!

Starting this program required some lifestyle changes that I was not use to during my undergraduate degree. It was overwhelming at first but this class really made helped me balance out my other classes and lower my stress level. The course provided a lot of hands on time and emphasized more on learning as oppose to chasing an A. I really like that model because it allows me to learn more using muscle memory and practice rather than memorizing answers. I believe this style of learning helps me to retain information in the long run. I am a lot more confident in health assessment after taking this class and the information in this class help set a firm foundation for future classes. It is also nice that the test reinforces the information we have been learning and helps to set us up for the lab finals. Taking the test a week before the other class also helped a lot. Group quizzes allowed for discussion and I learned most when my answers did not match the groups and the reasoning behind them. I did however have some hard time following lecture. The health assessment packet that was giving to us early in the semester was very helpful. The only part I found challenging was keeping up with the organization and focus of the lecture material. A lot of terms were unfamiliar to me. Many times I get loss between the stories and the lecture and it became difficult for me to relocate where on the slide. Overall I enjoyed the class very much and the learning experience is a very positive one. Have a great holiday!

I really enjoyed the way that this class integrated partnership and teamwork as it will mimic our real life experiences in working with others. After this course, I feel more confident that I am making the connections that I am learning and applying them when we are working in groups, as well as in the clinical setting. I have retained a great deal of information from this course because of that. The real-life examples portrayed within the class are extremely helpful and I hope you continue to allow group quizzes and a group final! Having to memorize the entire head-to-toe assessment also aided me for my time in clinical. To be honest, the only suggestion I have is to spend more time/ give people the opportunity to practice writing NANDAs in class since many of us were extremely unfamiliar with writing a NANDA.

Sometimes on tests or assessments in other classes I would be able to think back on what was said from life experience as a nurse to help me remember what I would do. I liked the group quizzes because I felt it stimulated good debates on what each of us would do in the scenario. Often I found myself realizing my way of thinking could be altered for the better which I liked. I really dont have any suggestions as I felt the class was well organized and helped me build a strong foundation for a general
health assessment.

Professor May was a really positive and kind which made it easy to talk to if you had any concerns.
Great and useful class! I enjoyed learning more about assessing each body system. I definitely enjoyed practicing the assessments, which tested my learning capabilities. I did not think I was going to memorize all the assessments for the final but I am glad I proved myself wrong. Thank you, Dr. Ringo for sharing your stories during lecture, it made it more exciting and it helped me connect and remember the content better. I have no questions for lecture or lab but, I would have liked to spend more time was going over the NANDA in this class or in any other class during first semester, which would have made the health assessment paper much easier.

Although it took a lot of effort to memorize the scripts for the health assessment lab, I found it to be well worth it! The whole "cadence" aspect of the lab assessment took a lot of time to conquer, but it also was the first thing of nursing school that actually made me feel more like a nurse (haha). It helped boost my confidence, or the lack thereof. Lecture was very entertaining and absolutely enjoyable because of Dr. Ringo's energy! Her stories were also intriguing. Furthermore, Dr. Ringo is a highly respectable professor. Although she is chill and funny, she is also very strict and serious. I loved that about her! Overall, I don't think there is anything I would change about this course. I ESPECIALLY loved that our lecture final was not a highly stressful event. All of the skills we learned helped us add to our "toolbox" of skills, as Dr. Ringo likes to call it. I also loved Dr. Ringo's intriguing stories about her career as a nurse. I feel like I took away so much from these stories because they gave us a glimpse of the real world. Her energy and manner of teaching grasps student's attention. I enjoyed the group quizzes and the group lecture final, which gave you a chance to use your skills to come up with a diagnosis. I would only suggest that we spend some more time about how to form a NANDA diagnosis, complete with the short term/long term goals. Thank you for the wonderful semester with a great professor!

This health assessment course was absolutely great! Not only did I learn so much, but I truly enjoyed the learning process in this class! I loved the way the class was organized and how information was presented in a way that was interesting which made it easier to retain. I think the way the course was structured really allowed us to be successful and really have the head to toe assessment down and have confidence while performing it. Thank you!
