         <description><![CDATA[<div>March: <br>-<strong>Unit 1</strong>: Introduction to Creativity, the Elements of Art and Principles of Design, Sketchbooks, Portfolios, and Visual Journaling.<br><strong>Unit 2</strong>: Students will investigate the big idea of change and how it is applicable to various aspects of their personal lives. Students will consider personal challenges they have overcome that have results in a significant change in their lives. Students will use these ideas as sources of inspiration for a multimedia drawing that blends two images into on to reflect change. <br>April:  <br>-<strong>Unit 3</strong>: Students will investigate how images have been used as a form of communication since the dawn of time and how many images and symbols cross boundaries of culture, race, and place. Students will look at how we communicate through imagery and how major companies have capitalized on this through their branding. Students will take this information and develop a multimedia composition that illustrates a concepts through images alone. <br>-<strong>Unit 4</strong>: Students will investigate the big idea of nature and how different artists portray this concepts across history, especially paying attention to contemporary issues of deforestation, loss of habitat, and man vs. nature. Students will choose an animal to research and gather information of and will develop a painting dedicated to that animal and it's habitat.<br>May: <br>-Continue Unit 4.<br>-<strong>Unit 5</strong>: </div>]]></description>
