It is a fact book so it provides students with information about people in other countries. This includes what they eat, what language they speak, what they celebrate (holidays), and clothes they wear. This gives students the opportunity to learn about similarities and differences across various cultures. If there is a student from a country other than the U.S., this text will make them feel like their culture is being valued and appreciated. This book also helps students develop perceptions of their own culture and the culture of others. The book also makes sure to emphasize the similarities that various cultures share: the love of family, friends, food, and fun. This is an important component of the book because we want to teach students that no matter how we different cultures may be, everyone around the world still shares many commonalities.

The book talks about her emotions of feeling shy and lonely and how she is able to begin feeling happier and more brave. This story shows reader's how something as small as saying hi or smiling can brighten someone's day. This is important for students to read about so they can see how being kind makes others feel good. Doing small gestures can help form friendships just like Sukie. This also can be a great story if their are new students or at the beginning of the school year.

https://youtu.be/4NJfZshgEQw

This story is about two boys who are playing and get into a disagreement. A teacher steps in to calm the boys down and help them to resolve their problem. The teacher guides the students in being aware of other's emotions and how to tell how our friends are feeling. This can be beneficial for students to read about because they may encounter similar situations with their own friends. This story also provides a great opportunity for a teacher to model being kind and being aware of how others are feeling. Students will be encouraged to solve their problems with their peers in a respectful manner.
