Nas is one of J. Cole's biggest idol an critics, one of J. Cole's earliest memories of Nas was when he used to print out Nas raps and tape them up on his wall also adding that he didn't only just see words but they were pictures he saw. J. Cole was given Nas,s opinion on a song he made saying he shouldnt have never made it, this made Cole get defensive and was the motivation behide "let Nas Down" (Fuse, 2013) but in my opinion theses harsh words from Nas made Cole into the artist he is today.

Eminem is a huge inspiration to J. Cole's early music as he had very similar cadence to Marshall with his fast pace lyrics and catchy punchlines (Southpawers, 2016). When J. Cole dropped his 4th album 2014 Forest Hill Drive his references Eminem in "Fire Squad"(J. Cole Explains What Inspired His “Fire Squad” Verse about Eminem, Iggy Azalea and Macklemore, n.d.) and also stated how he only looked up to a very select group of rappers and would be lying if he didn't say Eminem was at the top of it (Galindo, 2023).

Santan Dave is a UK HipHop/Rap artist who brought something to the music scene that was new and fresh as he has over 15 years of experience with playing the piano. Dave is one of my biggest influences in music as he is very passionate and takes time to make sure that the projects he is releasing is up to par, by him doing this shows fans that his projects aren't just a money grab but instead a musician hungry for the top. Dave is now known as the number 1 uk hiphop artist as his music connects with so many people even if u don't live the same life u can feel his weight in his words creating more than a good song for the radio to play but also something that resonates with the listeners, for example "Lesley" (Lesley, 2019) speaking out about the struggle of woman in abusive relationships and the toll they take not only physically but also mentally.

Andre is a huge inspirations to J. Cole as he not only rapped but how he can sing for the hook, you can see the impact Andre 3000 has had on Coles career, as he used Andre’s unique craftsmanship and played with it to the point he made it similar but with his own twist, for an example in the song “Hey Ya!”( Hey Ya!, 2009) Andre uses different voices throughout the song giving each part a different feel making it less boring for listeners. J. Cole used a similar technique on the song “The Cut Off” ft kiLL edward aka J. Cole (Dreamville, 2018). The versatility is shown though-out both artists work which is why they are compared to one another amongst fans.

Kanye is a well known independent Rap/Hip-Hop artist who created backpack rap, which inspired musicians to challenge themselves to try and make their own beats and lyrics, Dave was inspired by the influence Kanye had on the music industry as an independent artist and how he created his own type of rap genre. This is evident with the way Dave choose his career path by putting time in to all aspects of production. Dave makes his own beats, lyrics and films his own music videos as well as his album art "Tell me a treatment for a video i didn't make myself from scratch every lyric, every melody, every fu**ing beat every little detail in the artwork and video, everything is me" (19th Birthday, 2017). By dave being independent and not signing to a label at the start of his career and staying true to the idea even as he progressed thought-out his career showing he enjoys to make changes for himself to improve even feather.

Kid Cudi is a huge inspiration for the young creators that don't fit in and had problems with mental illness and a trouble past (Chacon, n.d.). Dave was hit hard by the words of Kid Cudi as he was speaking about such raw subjects that most people wouldn't dare speak on or discuss. This showed Dave that he could talk about the battle he's been fighting with mental health, by not only making a song about it but a story that supports it this is what makes Dave so different as if you can feel his emotions in the delivery of every bar.

Jay-Z to many is known as one of the greatest rappers to touch a mic, this inspired Dave as they came from a similar social class, seeing Jay-Z make it out of the same dangerous environments. Dave wanting what Jay-Z had gave him the inspiration to start creating his own music and try to make better of a bad situation, Dave was also motivated by Jay-Z as he was an independent artist up until he started Roc Nation and signed a-lot of artists featured on my tree (Lists, 2021).

Ice Cube was a main member of N.W.A, as he was the lyricist of the group as he was very raw and unique style that made them catchy and fun to listen too, which made him a big part of N.W.A , HipHop was not as big as we know it today and was a-lot harder to catch peoples attentions, this shows that Ice Cube was so far ahead of his time. Ice Cube was the only one that stood up for himself realising and confronting the problem as he could see where his former crews careers were going and it was not something Ice Cube was okay with doing (Club Shay Shay, 2020), 2pac respected his decision as 2Pac would of done the same as he will stand up for himself no matter the situation. This led to Ice Cube realising the single "No Vaseline" which was a dissed towards his former crew, This is one of the reasons 2Pac looked up to Ice Cube as he's left such a massive impact in music as their work can still be found replicated in todays HipHop scene, and how he was able to stand his own ground and know his worth as he was such an important peace of their structure.

N.W.A was a rap group who consisted of five musicians Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, DJ Yella and MC Ren theses five grew up in the famous streets of Compton California. N.W.A was a huge inspiration to 2Pac as the lived very similar lives and all have had previous run ins with the law getting locked up before their fame. This was only the start as the police played a huge role in their careers with the creation of N.W.A hit song F*CK THE POLICE (N.W.A, 2020) which led to them being arrested for performing it (Ross, 2022). This showed how they felt about the people who were meant to protect them, and what lead them to the making the song telling their sides of their stories about the police brutality that goes on in their neighbourhoods. This is the topic of a-lot of 2Pac work shedding light on a dark aura that followed Hip/Hop/Rap artists.

Dr. Dre is well-known throughout the world since he had a significant influence on hip-hop/rap artists, and a few artists on my Geology tree. He founded N.W.A. and served as the head producer for Death Row Records before starting his own Label, Aftermath Entertainment. Dr. Dre feel in love with music when he heard the song "Grandmaster Flash Song"(Dr. Dre: Influences, n.d.) Dr. Dre used to spend his nights at Evas After Dark night Club were he would watch Dj's and Rappers preform, which gave Dre inspiration to try to make his own beats and even start writing his own lyrics. 2Pac looked up to Dre as he mastered the art of producing as Dre knew how to play piano, guitar, bass and violin (Findlay, 2021) which is something 2Pac knew a-lot about, but was never a passion of his. Their collaboration on 2Pacs Double sided single "How do u want it/California Love" was a massive hit for the two as it was number 1 on Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks (California Love, 2023). This inspired 2Pac to engage in more collaborative projects to incorporate different ideas.
