The first woman who voted in Portugal used an ambiguity of the law, that issued the right to vote to literate head-of-households over 21, to cast her vote in the first elections after the fall of the monarchy, in 1911. Carolina Beatriz Ângelo was a medical doctor, a feminist, and a suffragette who participated in multiple women's associations. Because she was both a widow and a mother, she was considered head-of-household. For that reason, two years after, the law was changed to specify the right to vote was only for male citizens. Women were only granted the right to vote much later, in 1976.

Swiss scientists conducted an experiment. In one of the large supermarkets, they installed a mirror in which a hidden video camera was mounted. The camera recorded that 428 women and 735 men looked at themselves in the mirror during the day!

In the 60s, the commission, with the full support of women activists from the UN and outdoor women's organizations, developed first the Declaration, and later the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). Currently, CEDAW has been ratified by most countries of the world and remains the main international legal document for the protection of women from discrimination.

Today, a Belarusian woman cannot officially find a job as a truck driver, diver, glass blower. For her, these and about 180 other professions are closed, which are listed in the list of "difficult, harmful and dangerous".

Katrin Schwitzer's dream has always been to run a marathon on a par with men (in the 1960s, women were not allowed to participate in these races). Katrin started in 1967 and ran a marathon, despite attempts by the organizers to drag her off the track by force. After Katrin's impressive results, within 5 years, women received the right to participate in marathons on an equal basis with men.
