I got to sit in on three interviews last week. In the first interview, I. just sat and observed, but in the second and third interviews I got to ask some questions from this questionnaire. I learned a lot from being on the other side of the interview process. I didn't get a say in if they hired the person or not, and I wasn't allowed to sit in on the rates, but I was totally fine with that. I was definitely a good experience!

I was working on a clients tax return and this is a form that we have every client fill out. It gives us an idea of what had happened throughout the year and what kinds of forms we should be expecting depending on how they answer the questions. Sometimes people forget to mention that they had a child or moved. Both of those things are critical information to us as we do someone's taxes. This form help our clients to remember what happened throughout the year and help us keep track of things year to year.

Many clients bring all forms that have anything to do with taxes, but a lot of them have no importance in filing a return. This is the first page of the tax software we use called Ultra Tax. It is where we input all of the forms and information for the client. There are many categories on the left side of the screen that can take you to the forms where you can enter the W2, interest forms, business income etc. It was challenging to learn how to find the correct forms but over time it became second nature.

Big Meeting

Had a big meeting today with the top producer and owner of the agency that I am apart of his name is Osiris Kessinger (he is the one in the middle of the screen). Since he owns the agency he gets what is called "over rides" which means he has all the agents under him and when they make a sale he gets a percentage of it on top of what deals he sells. So he is making upwards of $30,000 a month in life insurance. We went over higher compensations for the team and how to track the financial aspect of leads, taxes, personal pay and more. Really interesting and exciting stuff!

I spent the week looking at what companies we pay by credit card and if they are charging a 3% service fee. In the past, this was never an issue but as some companies started passing on this fee to their customers, it took hold and now it seems like many big companies like UPS are doing this. Many restaurants have started it too. This small fee can add up to some big expenses if companies are not careful with how they are paying.

Another part of my job is tabling events in hopes to bring in new patients. I'm usually the "lucky" one that gets to do these events on days that the doctors aren't in, such as holidays. I actually don't mind though because I enjoy interacting with people, and it helps me improve my word-of-mouth advertising skills in a way as well. This picture is of the tabling event I did the day before Easter last weekend. It features some of our glasses options, including the relatively new Ray Ban Meta smart glasses.

Failed Video Idea

One idea Zack and I had for a Facebook post was to do a video similar to the intro of the TV show "Full House." The video's purpose would be to introduce everyone to our team of opticians. However, the app that my Walmart uses to post on their Facebook page does not allow us to upload any pictures or videos from camera roll. Each picture or video has to be taken or recorded at the time of posting. So, here's one of the videos I had taken before we found out the idea would not work. This one is of me closing one of the filing cabinets. I may complete the whole intro video this summer just for fun though.

P.S. I tried to post this as a video, so if it posts as the horrifying picture preview that it's showing me then I apologize.
