Classroom walk-throughs sounded daunting at first but felt better after it was explained.

Qn: do students need to greet the observers

Worried about class pace and focus being disrupted.

For MTL lessons, what if the observer doesn't understand the content? Will it cause misunderstanding?

Observation duration is too short so it will be good to focus on one area.

What exactly goes into the checklist? It’d be good if we are given the heads-up

Worried that the lesson that day is nothing to look for. - doing corrections, etc

Is the classroom walkthrough really non-evaluative?

Are lesson walk-throughs used for grading?

• The students will be in their natural learning state.

Has this been piloted with a small group first?

The comfort level of having other teachers being physically in class, observing the class and teacher. (Perhaps can consider video recording of teacher, without any other teachers in class)

Opportunity for teachers to grow and help with the blind spots

1. 5 minutes window period might not have the opportunity to observe the focus objective planned

2. A bit of anxiety with an observer is in the classroom

3. Students might be distracted due to the walk-through

• student engagement may be a challenge for some classes

• student meltdowns in class at the wrong time (when CW is happening)

• colleagues might feel overwhelmed with the idea of increased visits (formal lesson obs AND CW)

Perhaps we can also have peer walkthroughs. It is more purposeful when a teacher who knows the subject carries out the observation.

Can our colleagues come in to class first before the SLs and MMs do?

Can our colleagues be scheduled to come into our class for the walkthrough before the SLs and MMs do?
