She is also the reason Lennie had to die, if she would have never been interested in him and talked to him, he wouldn't of killed her. Her death in Lennie's hands means the end of George and Lennie's companionship and their dream. Curley's wife and Lennie were just having a conversation but all Lennie could think about was tending to the rabbits. Tending to the rabbits is all he could think about the entirety of the book. The rabbits were the most important thing to Lennie besides George. Lennie never meant to hurt Curley's wife. Lennie is the reason for most if not all of the conflicts that happen in the story. From the beginning Lennie caused problems for him and George, first the girl in weed and then everything else after that. It’s important to understand Lennie and why he does things, it’s also important to understand his mental capacity and why he is the way he is. Without Lennie the story wouldn’t exist because it’s revolves solely around him and the problems he causes and how George has to fix all the problems he creates. Lennie is also important to understand because he is one of the few characters that has had something to do with every other character, Lennie has had issues with pretty much everyone on the ranch and it’s important to understand why he is always in the center of everything that happens.

Because in some way or another, Lennie had an impact on the characters around him. In the very beginning, Lennie had an impact on George, as Lennie was the sole reason why the both of them had to leave Weed and find somewhere else to go. Then once George and Lennie got to the ranch, Lennie got involved with more people, one of which was Curley's wife. Even though Lennie wanted nothing to do with Curley's wife, he ended up giving in when he got the opportunity to feel her hair since he loved to feel soft things. Which then led to him accidentally killing her. When Lennie killed Curley's wife, it created the biggest problem in the book.  So without Lennie, this story could not have unfolded the way it occurred, as he is the reason why this all started in the first place and why these problems occur.
