The hardest part was definitely finding the right information about my device. I overcame this difficulty by using the techniques we learned in class, such as advanced searching techniques that allow me to filter down the information presented so that it is relevant to me. These really helped me filter down my information to find what I needed. In doing so it also helped me see how search engines use keywords and links to help them find relative information about the topic searched, which I then applied to my own project, in hopes that search engines will push my page to people that need the info.

The advanced search techniques is something that can be very helpful now and in the future especially during times right now where misinformation is running rampant. This time it was a quick repair/replacement of something that is not on iFixit. My project was how to replace the flint element with a certain type of lighter. We were also tasked to take pictures and put the repair/replacement in order. I then made sure to read all the requirements to make sure I fulfilled each and to do this effectively I made a checklist as well as a picture plan on how I will go about taking pictures of my device. This taught me that having a plan will always put you at an advantage. Without these, I would have been running around like a headless chicken! The writing techniques we learned also helped in making my writing clear and concise so that anybody no matter the age can be able to repair their lighter. iFixit also enabled us to use photos, so a well-thought-out photo plan helped a lot when taking the photos, enabling me to have context beforehand so I know how to take the photos. This showed me how to utilize photos and words together to get information across.

Learning how to write effectively for a broad spectrum of readers is a great skill to have in life.
