I went to Singapore for a 2-week startup bootcamp. It was a core memory and a highlight for uni. I enjoyed the hawker centres, the kaya toast and the fact that you'll never have to plan what to do because there's always something to do in Singapore. I enjoyed the memories there, I enjoyed talking with the locals and making new friends.

My dad’s family is Turkish, and I’ve been lucky enough to visit the beautiful country a couple times. Whenever I’m in Turkey I feel a heightened sense of connection to my cultural heritage, family, and cultural identity, where I’m able to explore and express these areas fluently. Their streets are like a community everywhere you go, and I always feel embraced whilst I’m there. It’s a different kind of comfortability compared to Australia.

This is were I grew up and my family sill lives there. In Germany we have a word called "Heimat", which is translated to be more of the place you grew up in, or that really feels like home. I´m not living there anymore, because of my studies, but Dresden will always be the place closer to my heart

I lived in Johor before moving to Sydney with my family, and it's still where I consider my home despite not being Malaysian myself. What I found interesting about living there is the fact that ethnicity and culture never really hindered the harmony (for the most part). I would go to school and see multiracial friend groups speaking in a mix of different languages with none of them missing a beat - it is truly 'satu (one) Malaysia'. That is why I think this subject is relevant to me.

This small island is the Northernmost island in the Kingdom of Tonga and is special to me as it is where my family on my father's side originates. Although they now reside in Nuku'alofa, Tonga's main island, Niuafo'ou will always be significant for me and my family. One of the reasons I am interested in Intercultural Communications is my mixed heritage and wanting to one day further my studies in ecocide and the relationships between Australia and the Pacific, specifically the Kingdom of Tonga, due to its unique position with the Commonwealth.
