A lot of my inspirations for this design came from Luciano Liu, who creates minimalist avatars. Colour is something I have yet to become comfortable with so I decided to keep it simple but added a splash of colour for the inspiration step. My target audience are children, teenagers and young adults. I first made coloured shapes and worked around that. I also decide to make the colour opacity 50% for a less intense way to go about it. At this point, I just drew over the shapes. For the sand and seaweed, I tried to experiment with different kinds of lines. For the fish, I tried to make a continuous line as the original piece was based off that. I highlighted parts of the brain responsible for different things. The dark teal colour is the frontal lobe and helps with reasoning and attention span. Within this, I have included how I often procrastinate and take inspiration from pedestrians who walk past me. I love learning new things and often browse the internet for cool facts and because of this know a decent amount of random knowledge. I have also included how I often lose interest in things and quickly become interested in another. I have yet mastered the art of being organised and am often behind in tasks. The pink part is the parietal lobe and lets you perceive things. I often doubt myself over small mistakes and its something I experience a lot while working. The aqua part below the pink is the occipital lobe and makes sense of what I see. I am curious and open-minded to everything and anything. Often times what you see is not all that there is, I always apply this to problem-solving situations and often think of many different solutions from different perspectives. The yellow part is the brain stem that controls expression. I have a hard time speaking up in team environments but also love working collaboratively with others. The purple bit makes sense of what I hear. Although I am aware of the due date, I struggle a lot with deadlines and often negate tasks till the last minute.  I usually am always listening to new music as it plays a big part in inspiring me. I often make up stories for what I listen to and often draw them out. Despite this, I also work best when I am alone and it is completely silent and I can organise my thoughts. The red part in the middle portrays how my mind works when given a task to complete.  Starting out, I have many ideas but I usually dont go through with them and forget about them. Nearing the due date, I often become overwhelmed by the many ideas I have, not knowing which one to commit to. Prior to QUT, this is how I tackled problems but with every task given I have had to come out of my comfort zone and quickly adapt to the new environments. As I continue design at QUT, I hope to better myself as a designer and learn new habits.
