The North Korean government is a communist country led by a dictator in Kim Jong Un. Kim Jong Un controls the government and withholds information. Kim Jong Un also makes citizens live very poorly through prison. Only a select few have free life. Money is given to the government and citizens aren't free to buy whatever they want. Most money made goes to nuclear weapons to fend off opposing countries. They want to have communism spread to other countries especially South Korea and have shown they aren't afraid to go to war to it. They often test nuclear missiles and they have gotten close to the United States.

Leaders in North Korea get elected through a family. Kim Jong SIl was the first leader. He led during the Korean War. After his passing his throne was taken over by his son Kim Jong Il. Kim Jong Il led for over 17 years until his death and Kim Jong Un took over. There is no say for citizens for whoever will be the next leader. They lead until there death and get taken over by there son.

You cannot travel out of the country in North Korea. Only government officials have cars. Internet access is strictly prohibited. International cars are forbidden causing citizens to not know whats happening in the rest of the world. There are hair and clothing restrictions in North Korea. Professions for people are based on the government needs. Watching foreign movies or listening to foreign music is considered a crime. These laws are put in place so North Korea can control the citizens and what they know.

Democracy vs Dictatorship

In a democracy the government has less control over you. People are more free to do whatever they want. In a dictatorship there is only one that leader. That leader usually tightly controls the government and its citizens. Dictators can control all aspects of citizens lives. Democracies citizens have a lot more say and even get to vote for their leaders. The power in the government comes from the people. Democracies and Dictatorships are very different, one is more free while the other controls the people.

Rights For Citizens

The government restricts most rights citizens have. There are less rights for women and children. Citizens have no access to internet. They can't vote for a new leader. They cannot leave the country. If they break any of these laws they will get sent to jail. People in jail live in terrible living conditions including being abused and starved. Many citizens have even been executed due to trying to escape.
