The difference between the two formats of speaking is that one is formal and the other is informal. When speaking to my friends I use different language than with someone I would email or when ordering online. 
The language we use to write a letter or an email is very different to the language we use when talking to our friends. Language can change dramatically depending on the settings, and the society it is set in. (Mooney and Evans, 2018) 
This language would be an informal version of English that my friends would understand.
