With this week’s task, I wanted to create something that portrayed the variety and colours found within my yard. I achieved this through making a rainbow appearance with all of the flowers I could find within the garden. I added some leaves throughout the flowers to represent the green and break up the grouping of flowers. However, I am now considering how I can find flowers that appear green when in full bloom.

Week 2 - recycled materials

WHAT?
This week we were tasked with the job of finding recycled materials around the house to create a meaningful artwork with. Lucky for me it was bin night the night before and I ended up with barely any recycling left. The few things I did find I was playing around with and the onion bag gave me inspiration to create a fish that is seemingly stuck within a net. I wanted to create an awareness of pollution within the ocean with this piece, showing that marine life are constantly being affected by what us humans are doing.
SO WHAT?
Reflecting on this task has me realising that I was inspired by the way in which the various artists we had viewed manipulated recycled materials to create an awareness about a particular subject or theme. I now understand that I needed time to become inspired to manipulate the objects, seemingly first an impossible task to accomplish.
NOW WHAT?
Moving on from this, I am excited to create a stop motion video that demonstrates an understanding of pollution that I am attempting to portray within this recycled artwork. I have roughly planned out the sequence in which the video will follow but am yet to create a solid idea.

Week 3 - stop motion

WHAT?
My stop motion video is intended to get people to think about the effect human’s pollution habits are having on the marine life. We live in a world where pollution is a major issue and effects more than just us humans. It is killing hundreds to thousands of animals a year both in the ocean and on the land.
SO WHAT?
Reflecting on this task, creating a stop motion video was a lot more challenging that I thought it would have been. If people are to be more aware of their recycling habits, there would be less pollution and more life given to the native life around us.
NOW WHAT?
If I were to ever conduct this within a classroom, I can now confidently say I have a little more knowledge on the impact a stop motion video can have in such a short amount of time. This is a great activity to implement within in another subject area in order to raise awareness on current issues around the world.

Kardinsky’s 1923 “circles in a circle” reminds me of raindrops falling on a pond. The sound I have created represents that feeling of the rain slowly dripping off of surrounding leaves and on to the pond, rippling out.

I chose the Caecilian as it is a creature I have never heard of or seen before. They are like a worm, only toxic to other animals. They dig through the dirt to create paths to find foods.
To emulate the movements, students could utilise their bodies and wriggle around, utilising levels by some people laying on the ground, and others standing. I would choreograph a sequence where they interact with one another and travel from level to level to represent the Caecilian travelling through the various layers of dirt.
