Within the film, Johnson exposes how betrayal erodes trust between individuals. Whilst, Travis' vigilante characteristics are favourable by the viewers, he is in fact a character who is viewed by his own as someone who has "no sense of duty" or "loyalty." Thus, exposing how although his actions are morally correct, they do not reflect the widely spread societal norms that he and the other police officers had to uphold resulting in the mistrust between them.
