Then she is even trying to hate the Murphy's because she doesn't want them to think that she loves them. Then towards the end she is confessing her love to them because she has to leave.

I think there are many different themes in the book. In one point of the book Carley is deciding weather she likes the Murphys or not. The decision was hard because she was trying so hard to hate them. Another part in the book that showed a different theme was when she was trying to find friends. She finds someone she didnt think would be a good frined, but later on she realizes she has connections with this perosn. They then become friends. The last theme was when Carley's mom miraculously recovered and wanted Carley back. She then has to decide between the to people she loves.

I believe there are serval different themes in One for the Murphy's. At one point in the book, Carley is trying to find where she belongs. She loves her mother, but at the same time she is really fitting in with the Murphy's. At another point in the book, Carley is trying to find friends, like Toni. Throughout the book, Carley learns many life lessons that her mother didn't really teach her. She learns to respect and care for the Murphy's. Mrs. Murphy was very kind to Carley all the time, and its sad, because unfortunately her mother wasn't. She had to learn to adapt with her situations. At first, Carley was a little confused because she wasn't used to people being so nice to her, but she learned that is the way it is suppose to be in a family.

I think there are many themes for this book. It shows how hard some kids lives are when they get abused, in foster care, and moving across the country. When Carley leaves Las Vegas, she leaves all her friends and has to find all new ones in Connecticut. Carley also has to live with the fact that her step- dad beat her and her mom. This makes Carley a little social shy and that will affect how she will make friends. Then when she finds a best friend, she has to leave her and go back to Las Vegas. This life would be very hard and I give Carley credit for still trying to get through life even though it is hard.

I do think that there is more than 1 theme throughout the book. Carley learns many life lessons that will be helpful to her in the future. Being someones hero, learning to forgive and forget, and learning how to love were some themes in the book but they're many more.

I thing the message for one for the murphys was that everyone deserves a second chance and to be someone's hero. I think that its about everyone deserves a second chance is because when she was talking to her mother and said that she was coming home it was like give her mother one more chance to love her like a mother should. I also think that it is to be someone's hero because in the book someone gave her a card that said to be someone's hero and she said I already am.

Everyone is saying that the theme is be someone's hero, yes it is but we are forgetting the fact that it is telling us to accept the things you can't control. when carly had to move in with the murphys for a while Carly thought it was going to be a bad idea but once she got more comfortable and settled in she finally realized what she was missing. LOVE!

I think there is definitely more than one theme in the book one for the Murphy's. For example, the idea of being someone's hero is revisited often in the book, so a theme statement could be that any ordinary person can become a hero by doing an extraordinary thing, like Mrs. Murphy does for Carley. Other themes could include giving people a chance, being vulnerable isn't always weak, and that sometimes the little things you do matter even more than the big ones. Also thanks this was really helpful: I needed ideas for my essay!
