         <description><![CDATA[<div>There is not one correct way to teach writing.<br>Every student has different needs.<br>Many districts do not have any type of curriculum.<br>It is hard to measure.<br>Many teachers are not qualified to teach writing.<br>Most kids hate writing.<br>Many teachers are not good writers.<br>There is not enough time to teach writing.<br>There is not one set plan for writing.<br>It takes time to have students write.<br>It takes SO MUCH TIME to read, reflect, and give students feedback so they can become better writers.<br>Kids do NOT Like to revise.&nbsp; Once kids have written one time, they feel it is their best effort.&nbsp; If they have already done their best, they do not think they can do any better.<br>Kids feel they are either good writers or bad writers...It is hard for them to realize that if they practice repeatedly, and really think, they can get better.&nbsp;<br>Because teaching writing can become so individualized, the other students who you are not working with are going crazy and are not on task. &nbsp;<br>If your grade is not taking the "standardized assessment in writing" then the teachers/admin/ etc.&nbsp; don't pay attention or even teach writing.<br>When teachers score a student writing, the same group of teachers will have a variety of scores usually from the low end of the spectrum to the high end of the spectrum.&nbsp;<br>Teachers do not feel confident in teaching writing.<br>Some kids need multiple ways to have students find ways to organize their thoughts in order to effectively communicate.</div>]]></description>
