         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Rhythm Olympics: Try to win Olympic medals as a class</strong></div><div>Select 4 students and give each of them one rhythm flashcard</div><div>Have one student stand in front of the class, one on the left side, one behind, and one on the right side</div><div>The students will perform each rhythm pattern with a four beat rest in between</div><div>Bronze – Read the patterns (face forward and read first card, turn to the left and read the second card, turn left again and read the third card etc…)</div><div>Silver – Move to show the rhythm patterns as you read them out loud (ex…pat for ta, clap 2X for titi, and flick your fingers for quarter rest)</div><div>Gold – Play the rhythm patterns on rhythm instruments (do the same rotating pattern) without saying the patterns out loud!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>2<sup>nd</sup> grade – review basic rhythms of quarter note, paired eighths and quarter rest by introducing Keetman’s Rhythm Building Blocks (Level One Orff).&nbsp; Start off with The Vacation Song (Game Plan Grade 2), introduce the blocks and clap/echo/read each one.&nbsp; Then have students brainstorm vacation words that might fit each pattern.&nbsp; Guide them to the following:&nbsp; beach, road trip, read a book, go swimming and see a movie.&nbsp; Clapping quiz – T claps a pattern, Ss echo and try to guess which one it is.&nbsp; Then do a partner mixer.&nbsp; Each student thinks of one of the Rhythm Blocks.&nbsp; Sing first part of Vacation Song while Ss walk around.&nbsp; Then for second half sing “find a partner and sit down” four times.&nbsp; Partners then clap their patterns for each other to guess.&nbsp; (PowerPoint slides attached).</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Partner work pic (hands on head indicate they are finished and ready to go again):</div><div>&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

I have point pages and we’re reviewing beat and rhythm and I found a neat thing Artie Almeida did where the students had to be a “Train” in a line and march whole, half, quarter, eighth to the song (keeping it in your feet).</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When we study “In The Hall Of The Mountain King,” we do this patting-snapping-clapping-(toe)tapping activity along with the song (see attachment).</div><div>It’s great.</div><div>I didn’t make it; I don’t remember who did.
