Moses "looked" on his brothers

Exodus 2: 3 says that Moses "went out to his brethren and looked on their hard labors". This verse is taken up by the writer of Hebrews who interprets it saying that Moses chose to "endure ill-treatment with the people of God" and refused to be called Pharaoh's daughter's son (Heb 11: 24-25). Moses was humble. He was not interested in Egypt's riches. He was meek unlike many to look and to have pity for the labors of his brothers.

At the burning bush, Moses says "Who am I, that I should go to pharaoh , and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?" (Exo 3: 11). This comes as a reply to the mission the Lord gives Moses. Moses constantly shows reluctance. He is humble and doesn't want the spotlight. He just wants to be away from the spotlight. This is another example where Moses shows humility and says, "who am I?".

Moses sings a song after the Lord delivers the Israelite at the red sea. Moses says, "the Lord is my strength and song" (Exo 15: 2). Moses gives the credit of deliverance to the Lord. He doesn't take any credit for his leadership skills. He thereby shows his humility once again.

Moses in reply intercedes for the people. He doesn't want the promise that the Lord made to Abraham to go in vain even though he could have actually benefited from it (by the Lord making of him a great nation).
