         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Roman elite "dominated society" and worked in government. This is similar to in the Han Dynasty, where the elite also worked in government as bureaucrats. Also, the Roman elite were considered the highest and at the top of society, and China was split into four social classes, with their elite also at the top.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 44 BC, Julius Caesar, a successful war general,  became the dictator of Rome. In China, there was an emperor, which is very similar to a dictatorship. Then Octavian, Julius Caesar's adopted great nephew, became the 1st emperor of Rome, and thus had the same government system as China: emperors.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the Han dynasty they believed in the importance of respecting ones parents, elders, and ancestors. They were open to different types of people and helped link central government to both local elites and the common people. In the Roman empire they were culturally divergent and open to different cultures, government, and religious beliefs.  Both cultures had respect and tolerance toward different things, whether it be religion or people.</div>]]></description>

In China, trade was looked down upon as a worse job than agriculture, which was considered a "fundamental occupation." Also, the silk that was traded from Central Asia to China was "coveted" by the Roman upper class.</div>]]></description>
