         <description><![CDATA[<div>My name is Caleb Bonilla and I am currently in high school enrolled in a program known as School for Advanced Studies (SAS). This program allows me to graduate with an associates in arts degree virtually at the same time as my high school diploma. This is a 2 year program in which I am in my second year and after I graduate from this program I hope to attend the University of Miami. My goals once I graduate are to acquire a degree in Exercise Physiology and my career goal is to become an orthopedic surgeon. One hobby that I have is working out and I became interested in it after my uncle had challenged me to do a certain amount of pushups in middle school when I went to his house. After I did this "challenge" I went home and began researching other exercises that I could do and eventually began doing them in my house and later on in a gym.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The strategy of claim, evidence, and reasoning can be used in our daily life when dealing in the news. When we are given someone's opinion on something that is going on in the world, or information on something that is going on, we can apply claim, evidence and reasoning to verify its truthfulness. We have to ensure that the claim that they are making is defendable and can be proven with evidence. Furthermore, we must make sure that the claim that is provided includes evidence that is trustworthy. Some examples of trustworthy evidence are papers that are peer-reviewed as well as observable data, such as photos and videos. The evidence that is supported then must be linked to the claim in order to ensure that the evidence is relevant through reasoning. This method of questioning and answering information that you observe is very important as everything is not always as simple as it seems and there could be further observations that can be discovered through this process.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The common bottlenose dolphin, also known as Tursiops truncatus, is a species of dolphin that is found in many bodies of water, including harbors, bays, gulfs, and more. They are very easy to view because they live close to the shore but this also puts them at risk for injuries related to and caused by humans.          <title>The Common Cold</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>One thing that caught my attention is how long a common cold lasts. According to the first video, a common cold lasts around 7-10 days, and this caught my attention because whenever I catch a cold, I usually only feel symptoms for a few days. This means that even if I am not feeling symptoms for the cold, I can still be carrying it.</div>]]></description>

They can be found in harbors, bays, gulfs, and estuaries of temperate and tropical waters.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I found interesting how different factors in an environment can cause more change which eventually results in a loop. Especially in a positive feedback loop such as the one that was mentioned in the video where deforestation leads to a never ending loop of increased erosion. This type catches my attention because all it needs is one catalyst to start the loop and it practically never ends.</div>]]></description>

Especially since I can only name a handful of animals that go through metamorphosis it was really cool to see that there is way more animals that go through this process that many of us do not see.</div>]]></description>

         <title>How Does Climate Change Affect the Bottlenose Dolphin?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Many different factors, including climate change, habitat disturbance, and fishing interactions can have negative effects on the common bottlenose dolphin. Climate change specifically caused a decrease in seagrass, which many dolphins rely on since it provides food and protection for many animals in that ecosystem. The red panda is an interesting species that I would like to learn more about so I am glad that Diana decided to research this species. After further review of her padlet, I found the rest of her posts very informative and quite entertaining. She speaks in terms that are widely understandable and accessible to many people.          <title>Evolution of Bottlenose Dolphin</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Over time the common bottlenose dolphin has evolved in many ways. First of all, many believe that dolphin originally began as a land animal as its bone structure and limbs are similar to land animals today. The spine of the dolphin moves vertically, which is common among land animals, and the spine of fish moves horizontally, which is common among water animals. The jaw has also enlarged as well, which results from the fat pad that emerged in the lower jaw. Echolocation was also not always available to dolphins, and it is believed that it was during the early Miocene period that dolphins developed this ability, which allowed them to locate fishes and other objects much easier. Some other changes include the migration of the nasal openings from the end of their snout toward the skull in what would eventually become the blowhole, and the movement of ears closer to the dolphin's eyes.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Penguin Discussion</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The video I chose to watch was "The popularity, plight, and poop of penguins". I learned quite a lot about penguins in this video, including their relations to other birds. I was aware that penguins were flightless birds but I did not know that their closest relative currently was a bird capable of flight known as the "Albatross". I also was not aware of how many places penguins could be found. I thought that they were solely found in the Arctic and that they were found near both the North and South poles. However they are actually found solely in the southern hemisphere and they can be found outside of the arctic too, in areas such as South America, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Their use of poop was also fascinating as I would never have guessed that it could be used for products such as gunpowder and fertilizer.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>All throughout this semester I enjoyed learning more about biology and how so many different living things interact with each other. I did not know how this class would be when I signed up for it but as I wenth through the weeks I became more accustomed to the routine and enjoyed learning new things. As this semester comes to a close I can honestly say that although this class was different from the other classes I have taken, I am glad that I was able to experience this class and take in the information that I have received.<br><br></div><div>I initially thought that this course would have been like some of the other online courses that I took in which the professor would teach from a powerpoint and would give assignments for the class to complete, both in and outside of class, as well as the occasional projects for the class to complete in groups. This class was nothing like that with lots of class engagement through the quizzes and discussion posts and even us sharing information on topics that we researched through our padlet. It was also different as all of our work for this class was done during class time. Before this class I had taken a few science classes and I can say that I enjoyed them, especially since I am planning to go into the medical field for my career.<br><br></div><div>While working on the assignments, I learned a lot on the topics I was working on and it was very different because I thought the assignments were going to be less discussion based and more based on answering questions. However since the assignments were discussion based I feel like I learned more and I was able to apply the knowledge that I had learned to the real world.<br><br></div><div>After completing the assignments, I still enjoy science and I learned a lot more about the environment and different organisms interacting with one another. I feel that after this class as a person I am now more cogniscient of the things going on in nature and in my body and I am able to spread this information to others as well.<br><br></div><div>In conclusion, I am glad I took this class because it was different than other classes that I have taken and I was able to continue my pursuit in science.<br><br></div>]]></description>
