         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are genes that are responsible for the structure and function of a person's muscles. This gene makes certain protein that protect the muscle fiber. Muscular Dystrophy takes place when one of the genes is defective. This mutation causes the changes in the muscle fibres that have contact with the muscles ability to function.&nbsp;In one of the diseases known as DMD it is known that the X chromosome is affected. </div>]]></description>

         <title>3. Prenatal Tests </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The only way one can know if their child has muscular dystrophy is with genetic testing. There are two main ways in prenatal diagnosis one way is known as chronic villus sampling (CVS), this is when you remove tissue from the placenta for analysis, which is mostly used after 11 weeks into the pregnancy. Another way is known as the amniocentesis which is when a needle is inserted into the abdomen so that a sample of amniotic fluid that surrounds the foetus can be taken, this method isn't used until 15-16 weeks of pregnancy. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are different ways into diagnosing muscular dystrophy, many tests are available if necessary, there is an enzyme and protein blood test that can check for creatine kinase( elevated levels of enzymes) having high levels can be seen as muscule damage, electromyography(EMG) helps measure the electrical activity of muscles and the nerves, a muscle biopsy where a sample of small tissue is removed to be tested, and other ways such as blood tests or seeing if the person has any symptoms. </div>]]></description>
