He killed a sheep on the behalf of the mother who is very sick at the moment in the story. Isabel is spending mot of her time at home nursing her sick mother and caring for her siblings. Isabel realizes that she needs to step up into the mother role in the family because her own mother is not doing well. Eziquel tells us that even though she is very sick she will not die. While Isabel was still busy caring for her sick mother her best friend Teresa stated that Lucas Choy (Isabel's fiance) is angry. Once Isabel went over to Lucas' job sight they had a heated conversation because they are angry they don't see each other enough even though Isabel says that she is too busy because she is helping her mother. In the beginning of chapter six women Isabel's age begin to tease her for not being married yet. By the end of this chapter an american named Allan Waters (another doctor) shows up to take care of Isabel's mother.
