The Other Side and Show Way show the inequalities and The Day You Begin and The Year We Learned to Fly help children to find confidence in their differences. These texts match with research on culturally responsive teaching and</strong></p><p><strong>social emotional learning showing the importance of storytelling in modeling identity. Woodson’s shows mirrors and windows for readers that help them connect with their experiences while expanding their perspectives.Centering her stories in classrooms teachers can develop empathy and critical thinking in students. This text set is important I think for meaningful conversations.</strong></p>]]></description>
