Malala Yousafza was born on July 12, 1997 in Mingora in the swat district of northwestern Pakistan. She was born to her parents Ziauddin and Toorpekai Yousafza. She was also the oldest of her two brothers, Khushal and Atal. In Pakistan, it was quite uncommon to add a daughters name to your family records, but her father decided to add Malala's name instead of only his sons. Ever since a young age Malala has had her family on her side giving her tons of support. There family was a bit unfortunate in some ways though. They weren't very wealthy. They were a lower class family. Her father was a teacher for the Khushal Public Girls School.

Malala went through hard times before her success. On Tuesday, October 9th 2002 Malala got shot in the head by Taliban. The Taliban refused that girls should have the rights to go to school and get an education. If schools for girls were not shut down, they were simply burned down by the Taliban. Malala and her father opened up a school and they threaten her not to go. Malala made many speeches as an activist and tried to have the taliban change there ways. Soon, Pakistan became an unsafe place to live. After her speeches they shot her and hoped her days as an activist were over. Malala recovered from the tragic events and many many surgeries and sadly, had to move with her brothers and mother to remain safe for awhile. Still girls and women's rights were not what Malala would have liked them to be when she arrived back home. The fight for equality was tough, but Malala never stopped speaking out. The ten year old Malala once said; "One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen can change the world.

The IB that I think suits Malala best is risk taker. To be a risk taker, it means you approach unfamiliar situations with courage and confidence. Malala shows she is a risk taker in many ways. Even with numerous death threats against her, she still chooses to speak out about her feelings and her beliefs even though that is against the Taliban's wishes. Another way she takes risks is when she attends her fathers school, even when the Taliban demands no girl should have the right to an education.

Malala contributed many, many great things for women rights and especially children and young girls. Malala helped our society by deifying the Taliban and speaking out Malala says, '' I didn't want to be silent, or we would live like that forever.'' Malala also fights very hard for equal rights, because of her, now children in Pakistan have the right to go to school no matter there gender. She also helped other young people to realize that they have a voice too, and if they use it they may be able to contribute many great things to our society like Malala.
