He tells about his difficult childhood spent cleaning chimneys. In the period of the industrial revolution, children were sold to clean chimneys or work in mines for their small size. The narrator tells of how he tries to comfort his friend Tom Dacre who is crying because his curly hair has been shaved off.
- The children's hair was cut to avoid the soot of the chimneys to dirty it. 
- Tom falls asleep and dreams of his young friends, Dick, Joe, Ned and Jack,  closed in black coffins, when an angel with a bright key arrives and sets them free. Thousands of  chimney sweepers come out of their coffins and they start to run and laugh in a green plain where they wash themselves in a river under the sunshine and, finally clean and free of soot, they float on the clouds.
- The dream symbolizes the need of the children to  free themselves of their condition and to find in death a better life. Blake is rebelling against the way society is forcing children into work.The chimney sweepers get up in the middle of the night to be able to finish their job at sunrise when fires are lit. 
- The cruelty inflicted on the children give us a sense of anger because we can hardly believe that they underwent such terrible forms of exploitation, sold as objects to ruthless adults. What makes us feel worse is that in some parts of the world poor, innocent children are still forced to work, treated like slaves.

-The poet highlights their colour, their quantity and their movement. He describes them as a golden crowd dancing in the wind.
-The sight of the daffodils fills the poet's heart with joy and pleasure. He is no longer "lonely" but in the company of these beautiful flowers. 
-Wordsworth's "inward eye"  is  his visual imagination. He was accustomed to using it it when he was alone and had nothing in particular to occupy his attention.
-While reading this poem we felt the same strong emotions of pleasure of the poet and, thanks to his vivid description of the flowers, we could almost see them.
